We stayed here to break up a journey, lovely little place to stay right by the river and only a short walk to the high street, room very comfy with good bathroom, tea / coffee tray, food was avaliable but we eat elsewhere but heard good reviews

40th wedding anniversary

I have always wanted to visit Rye after l heard about it on the radio. I was not disappointed. The Ship Inn staff were very welcoming, the food was lovely and also the atmosphere, you felt that the staff were happy in their work. We had our rather large dog with us, who settled quickly to his different surroundings. Also a sausage treat now and then was welcomed. I would definitely stay there again, also so well placed for accessing the town, only downside is parking, we managed each time to find a space where you could park for free. I would highly recommend a stay at the Ship Inn.

Greeted by a very helpful Nicole, who also took dinner order and dealt with dietary requirements. Rooms modern and clean. You have to pay to park but car park is very close. Location very close to the town centre.

Friendly staff. Pleasant room. Great find.

Very positive experience. Staff were welcoming, friendly and made me feel at home from the moment that I walked in. I called beforehand to check on something and they were really helpful. The room was pleasantly decorated, nice big tv, very clean and well appointed, with tea, coffee and bottled water. Central location. Dog friendly establishment. This is somewhere that I would definitely recommend and will return to when I'm the area.

Nice Room, Odd Restaurant Experience

The room itself was nice, but the restaurant experience was confusing and frustrating. Service is inconsistent—one side of the restaurant has table service, the other doesn’t, but this wasn’t explained until after we sat down. No food between 10 AM and noon, which was unexpected and inconvenient. The menu tries to be super fancy with dishes that are meant to be comforting, which felt a bit misleading. Ordered carrot soup three times, and it never came—at least they didn’t charge for it. Loved the cider! Overall, the stay was fine, but the restaurant could use clearer communication and better service.

Great stay

Lovely stay on New Year’s Day after working the whole of Christmas. Staff were friendly and professional. Room was lovely and spacious with a comfortable bed and powerful shower. Informative booklet about the winery behind the pub in rooms with useful information about local walks etc. no problems at all

Disappointed No Breakfast

My wife and I stayed for 1 night on NYE. The room was a standard double, which was adequate. However we were disappointed to discover that the £134 room fee did not include any breakfast. As the alternative we went next door for a lovely breakfast to The Old Grain Store, which is definitely to be recommended.
