Not clean.

The hotel is somewhat rundown. The shade used to block light at the window was damaged and did not close properly, letting light from the parking lot in and disturbing your sleep. There was no shampoo in the shower. One set of towels had been used and was stained with mascara. Housekeeper knocked persistently on the door starting at 8:30, although the checkout time was 11. I told her she was disturbing my ability to conduct work-related Zoom meetings, and that she could not knock every hour to see if I was still in the room. The hotel is right off the freeway and the breakfast was very good, with a buffet serving bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, omelettes, and sausage gravy with biscuits. The location is about half an hour outside Chicago itself, although the time to drive into the city was affected by highway construction and traffic delays.

Needs improvement

I went in after I booked requesting adjoining rooms, was told she put it in the notes. Called the day before to confirm we could have adjoining rooms yes we can make that happen. Get there and oh we don’t have any a basketball team checked in last and each one of them has 1/2 adjoining rooms on each floor but we can put you in 2 rooms next to each other. The ac in one room wouldn’t turn off so we were cold. For queen suites they only have 2 bath towels in each room, then we had to call down and request sheets and blankets for sofa beds. The bathroom door didn’t lock.

Our room was dirty, wrappers on the floor, ants in the room, bathroom floor was sticky, no soap in the dispenser, counter was dirty, light was broken when we walked in. The breakfast was good and the counter staff were nice. The pool was also cold and cloudy so we didn’t swim.

Disappointed but decent room.

Reserved this hotel to take my kid swimming on the last day of her spring break just to get to the hotel and the pool was closed! Would have been nice to have that posted somewhere on the site. Main purpose of the stay was the pool and a getaway. Very disappointed and kind of a waste of money but the room was clean and the beds were comfy

The Room The tub in my room was not clean properly. It had a ring going around the inside of the tub! We had to get our own towels from the lobby. Due to not having enough staff. I guess we were supposed to clean our own rooms since housekeeping never came not one time out of the 2 nights we stayed in the two rooms we reserved. Garbage piled up in both rooms. No wi-fi in either room. Called anout it seversl times, and they did nothing to resolve the issue! Ice Machine The ice machine on my floor did not work during my stay. Elevator Not only slow, but saw a roach in the elevator. Dining Room/Breakfast Breakfast was not the best, but it is free. However after eating breakfast the first day of the 2 days we were there, we see la roach crawling in the food area on the paper plates, which is near the food area! Pool Pool is out of order! So nothing for the kids to do inside the hotel. No apologies for any of the complaints! But, you will best believe I will not stay at this Holiday Inn Express/Hammond ever again! As having my own travel agency, I will not recommend any of my clients to stay there either!
