Visit in October and you will understand the story that the town is truly famous for; the Coo-ee March. In 1915, 26 brave Gilgandra men set out to Sydney on the first of the World War I recruitment marches, using the Australian bush cry of ‘coo-ee’ to rally others, they arrived in Sydney with a group of 263 men. Our Gilgandra hotels are the perfect place to stay during the Coo-ee Festival.
