What kind of host chews out a 78 year old grandmother on her birthday and tells her she isn’t allowed visitors? Maria, that’s who. This home was rented for a week for a family of 5. Nowhere in the listing does it say that you are not allowed to have visitors. I celebrated my birthday Thurs evening by inviting my extended family for dinner and . As the dinner was winding down Maria came to the house and told off my husband and I. She said that the rental agreement, (which was sent after we made the reservation) explicitly stated we were not allowed to have “events” and only 5 people were allowed inside. She said the house was only “To go to work & to sleep there”. She insisted on going inside. Even though this was an invasion of our privacy and against VRBO rules, we agreed in an attempt to defuse the situation. The house was orderly and in no way being disrespected. She inspected every room only to find made beds and 4 guests. Maria remained unhinged and said she was going to call the owner and they would decide if we could stay or not. As my daughter’s friend arrived to bring me , she told her “You best not go inside”. Maria stayed outside with her arms crossed until everyone left which was shortly after (around 8 pm). She had corporate VRBO call us to inform us that our reservation was canceled and we had to leave the property. My birthday was ruined and l was shorted 2 nights stay. On principle alone, you should never rent this house.
