Grange Hotels Group - accommodation in Egham

I stayed at The Royal National Hotel for one night on Wednesday 7 October. For the price I paid (£120 for the room, although breakfast was an additional £30 (what?!), bringing the total to £150), I can’t really complain. The room was a double overlooking the forecourt. Surprisingly, noise was minimal, although I can imagine it gets considerably noisier at weekends. The en-suite was perfectly adequate, too. My only gripes were the rather weak shower pressure and the fact that the water never quite reached a temperature I would have liked. What really let the stay down, however, was the breakfast offering. The whole operation could best be described as school dinners. Guests have to queue to be seated, with staff chaperoning people around the breakfast room. In all honesty, I’ve never experienced anything quite like it in a hotel. The room itself was noisy, and there was yet another queue for the breakfast buffet. I found the whole experience rather off-putting, so I decided not to bother with breakfast and instead stave off the hunger until lunchtime. Overall, I’d describe my stay as very Travelodge-esque. For the price, you can’t complain too much, but I would certainly have preferred the more relaxed ambience of a Premier Inn! Just don’t pay the extra THRITY QUID for breakfast and instead spend that money in a more relaxing cafe nearby.

Location was excellent Secure Convenience to shopping and restaurants

Affordable stay, simple and great location. Really impressed. Not loads of space but perfect for a couple of nights.
