The motel had recently been renovated in the room, reflected very well of that. Modern bathroom, great floors, bed and pillows were very comfortable. This was a spur of the moment stay and we were not disappointed.

We were pleasantly surprised that this older property had clean and recently rennovated rooms. Beds were comfy, towels were thick. Down side was you could hear the neighbors and some road noise. But all and all a good stay for a,quick overnight on our way south.

Great Southern Country Place

First time in Dunnellon and we loved the town. Great southern country vibe. We were here to kayak the Rainbow River which I highly recommend. This was a great place to stay and I would do it again. I was looking for a sign that said Gator Den Motel but there is none. I drove past the Blue Gator and had to go back because that’s the place. Not sure why the name discrepancy. It’s on the main highway through town and right beside the Withlacoochee River. The room was very nice and clean and the bed was very good. Just a walk across the parking lot gets you to the restaurant/bar with mostly if not only outdoor seating. It’s a great country vibe with a great selection of food and beer. I enjoyed the two meals I had there very much. I arrived around 8pm on Sunday evening. Earlier in the afternoon I received a call letting me know they were expecting me and I needed to go to the restaurant to get the manager to check me in. That was a great bit of info that kept me from wondering what to do. It all went smoothly and with a friendly welcome. It’s a small motel with rooms facing the parking lot and a highway right beside it but none of that disturbed me at all. It was a great place to stay.

Small motel, I believe about 10 rooms, which appear to have been recently updated. Tiki Bar on the grounds, which sits on the river, and the food is great (ask about the chocolate mousse pie). Checkin and checkout very smooth and easy, and everyone is very friendly. As a guest, we were able to fish off the dock. We have stayed twice now, and a great experience each time.

This was the best trip so far to Dunellon. We come every year and this is our first year staying here. Room was clean, check-in was easy. You can walk to the restaurant on the property, which has really good food. They also rent pontoon boats. Everyone on staff was super friendly and kind. The absolute best part of this motel though was meeting Captain Bob. If you’ve never had (or even if you have) been on an airboat ride, I can’t stress enough how much you HAVE to go with Captain Bob. We were able to see all kinds of wildlife and even a baby alligator. Make sure you ask him to “drive it like he stole it” lol! You will be smiling for weeks. Capt Bob also gave the kids some bait and both our kids caught their first fish off the dock. This will be the only place we stay for years to come.
