We found the reception staff indifferent and rude when we first arrived late in the evening, although other staff on other days were friendly enough to say hi and bye as we walked through through reception.
The room was musty and the bed damp when we arrived which seemed to have happened from the air con being on all day. I slept on my own sheets the first night as staff couldn't do anything about the bed as it fully booked that night. There is a large construction next door, so we woke to construction noise each morning. There was a large wall of windows, but no sheer curtain, so we couldn't even let the sunshine in as our room faced the opposite hotel, and one of the windows opened fully from floor to ceiling, on the second story (huge drop! Make sure you check this if you have kids)
Breakfast is 400baht per person, but there's lots of cafes in the old city that are available. Location was heralded as good, close to the Thapae gate, but I found that there were more than ample other hotels in better locations in the old city.
Overall, the hotel looked designed for instagram as it looked good online, but it lacked the soul I booked it for. Even the pool looked good, but there was no sun in the afternoon as it was tucked away into the hotel. Pity the hotel didn't have a nice vibe to suit Chang Mai as it could have added to our visit. Lucky the city itself is enough to make the experience great :)
