What a terrific place! Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and check-in could not have gone easier. The place was decorated exactly as presented online but what caught my attention was the nice, subtle clean scent to the air. Definitely not a chemical clean but a "clean, clean" and subtle scent. The room was the perfect size for us, very clean and tidy. The bathroom was not oversized but worked just fine for us. Plenty of hot water for showers. The bed was comfortable and offered plenty of pillows. Good supply of charging slots, free Wi-FI. The complimentary breakfast was fantastic and the offerings consisted of things you don't normally get in your standard fare at many chain hotels. Hot selections as well as the standard things. I initially chose this place based on the appearance, the lower nightly rate, the free parking and the complimentary breakfast. I was not disappointed and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I LOVED this place!!

Terrible front desk, great little hotel

Single worst check in experience ever…front desk was empty, no one there but a note saying “we’ll be back”. When she did show up she’d already passed me multiple times while doing other things and never acknowledged me (I had no idea she was an employee based on how she was dressed and how she ignored me). This woman never says “hello”, “please”, “thank you” or even cracked a smile during the very efficient check in. I tried to engage her, but she may be the most miserable employee I’ve ever met. It didn’t bode well, I assumed if she hated her job so much it was likely because she worked in a terrible place. Here’s the great news…the hotel was lovely. Clean, nice and quiet, easy parking. Well situated with plenty of places to grab food close by. Good walking areas for visiting dogs. Lots of cars in the parking lot but very little activity in the hotel. I would absolutely stay here again, but next time I would be ready for a front desk employee that hates me and hates her job.

I have stayed in Charlottesville in other hotels and this one is the best amongst all ! The staff is friendly, it's quiet , safe, clean. It is close to UVA, the breakfast is Wonderfull! Plenty of parking and your car is safe ! I highly recommend people to not go anywhere else if you are visiting UVA . I stayed for 2 weeks and was really exceptional! Thankyou English Inn for being so lovely and Wonderfull!

This was a great place to stay while in Charlottesville to see doctors at UVA. The lady at the front desk (Gail) was so helpful and pleasant. My husband had forgotten his cane and she loaned him one! The breakfast was very good also. Will definitely stay here again.

Stayed one night for concert at John Paul Jones arena. Very close. Easy parking. Place could use a little updating and bathroom shower floors need replacing, but it was a quaint and pleasant hotel. NOTE...there is NO free breakfast here as advertised.
