Lovely quiet location with easy parking. Although obviously an old building, the communal areas are reasonably updated. The staff I thought were without exception very nice and service-conscious. Food was lovely too and good value. A bit of a general smell in the corridors, of foist just about covered up by cleaning products. It may bother some.

This was our 2nd stay at the hotel and overall we were pleased with the hospitality and level of service. However, they have now switched to a buffet style breakfast as opposed to waiter service. We felt the breakfast was not as enjoyable as some of the breakfast items were cold as they had been placed in the tray for too long.

Dinner was excellent, but only a 3 coarse option appeared to be available. Breakfast was self service which for hot food was no better than say a Premier Inn breakfast, which was disappointing for this type of hotel. My room was quite a distance from reception and I had to traverse intermediate stairs that might be an issue for less ambulant persons.

We loved our stay. 5 min walk from our favourite pubs. Parking was a bonus. Staff were friendly. Bar was a lovely area. Room was a great size and comfortable. Nice choice of breakfasts and food was frequently topped up.
