This is a beautiful old property with a lovely yard and views. It is also located near the bus stop, trails to the lake and nearby forest. The host, Karen, is very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. The breakfast was delicious!
It was like stepping back in time as premises dated back to Tudor times.
The views were fantastic.
The owner looked after us very well, with plenty of cake & a good hearty breakfast.
Clean and tidy, lovely cooked breakfast with freshly baked bread. Beautiful views from the windows and the location is perfect for exploring the lake district.
It was very beautiful and peaceful, beautiful accommodation. Good WiFi, and breakfast perfect. The lady of the house was very friendly and helpful. Very happy 10/10.
Wow! Can't say enough about this b&b, owner was welcoming even sorted some cakes and milk. The property is amazing full of character and wonky floors (proper old 😂) breakfast was fantastic, many thanks would definitely return if passing.
The breakfast was amazing. Freshly cooked bread and free range eggs from the resident hens!! The host was really friendly and knowledgable about the local area. The b & b had lots of rustic charm. Ideal for a quiet getaway.
We had a fantastic stay and couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome. Karen was such a lovely host, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived.
The property has a wonderful old-world charm that creates a truly comforting and relaxing atmosphere. The views are absolutely amazing, and the beautiful garden is the perfect place to unwind and take in the surroundings.
Breakfast was a real highlight – a delicious home-cooked feast! And the wonderful homemade biscuits on arrival were a lovely surprise!
Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations, and we left feeling refreshed and well looked after. We're already looking at dates for our return visit and can't wait to come back. Highly recommended!
I had a wonderful stay at Powter Howe, a real treat. The room and bathroom were immaculately cleaned and well kept and the host is a gem who cooks the best breakfast which includes lovely free range eggs from her own hens. Waking up in the morning to the view over a beautiful garden beyond the lake to Skiddaw was an extra treat as each morning there was a new ever changing Lake District vista. I'll definitely be back!
If you crave staying in a quiet, away from crowds, completely authentic and historical place, this is it. It is an Elizabethan era farm house and grounds. Keren will look after you. It has access to trails nearby. Cooked breakfast served daily and the eggs are from the chickens on site. You'll need a vehicle or be able to take a bus out there - it's not in downtown Keswick. You'll need to travel a bit for lunch and dinner. And I think that is it's greatest advantage, it's a wonderful refuge from busy daily life.
A fantastic stay. The lady who runs Powter Howe could not have been friendlier and was very patient with me on my arrival, including with my sad attempts to get my car into the place!
This is a beautiful, proper country house - very spacious room, lovely breakfast. It is very quiet here. The log fire was amazing and it was great to spend a quiet evening here away from it all!
I would stay again.
Beautiful, warm, clean, friendly - this place is packed full of charm and original features couldn't have asked for a better place to stay - thank you.
The lady owner was friendly and lovely from the moment I arrived.
I was made to feel very welcome and was even treated to a plate of home made biscuits.
The bed was comfy and I had an amazing night's sleep.
Breakfast was served at a time that was convenient to me and everything was very fresh. The bread and jam were also home made.
The property is in a very quiet location and in lovely gardens and provides a great place to stay during a visit to the lake district.
