          Muscat Car Rentals

A lot of people have never heard of Muscat, but that’s about to change: Oman’s capital is on the rise thanks to its progressive sultan and uber-friendly locals. You could spend days in the markets, but be sure you book one of Wotif’s awesome Muscat car hire deals so you can motor around the desert, too. Four-wheel drive is optional, but way more fun.

          Go Cruising

Here’s the best tip you’ll get all day: Book a Muscat car rental with a big boot and head to the Mutrah Souq. You don’t have to be a “wise man” to track down gold, frankincense and myrrh. Look for bukhoor, too. It may sound like a wild animal or a weird haircut, but it’s basically potpourri.

Not enough shopping? You need a few nights in Dubai hotels! Catch an hour-long flight and shop till you drop in Oman’s northern neighbour. And oh yeah, you should definitely bring an extra suitcase to hold all that loot.

          Road Trip!

Those who don’t explore beyond the bounds of the capital are missing out. After all, isn’t that partly why you booked car hire in Muscat? Put it to good use by climbing the country’s tallest mountain, Jebel Shams; it’s 240km west of the city, and it’s so worth it.

The road is steep, but paved, with plenty of hairpin turns and awe-inspiring lookout points over Wadi Ghul, the “Grand Canyon of Arabia”. With little civilisation in sight, go ahead and pretend you’re charting ground on a new planet, like Luke Skywalker. We won’t judge.

We will judge you if you don’t book your own set of wheels on Wotif, though. Trust us, it’ll make your holiday so much better. Plus, you can bundle your airfare and accommodation and save tons of cash with our Muscat holiday packages. Then spend the dough on that four-wheel-drive upgrade—or a convertible. The choice is yours!
