We had a very nice time. The room was spotless and very comfortable. We will be back again. The staff were very nice. The breakfast was great. And it was quiet. Just what we needed. A romantic get away.

The staff I encountered were helpful and nice, but be aware that they’re mostly stationed at the sister hotel. That is also where the afternoon tea also takes place. My room was clean, but I was so overwhelmed by the smell of what I believe was Febreze, that I actually had to open the windows despite the air-conditioning being on. If you’re sensitive to these things, you may want to tell them ahead of time. The immediate Neighborhood is great, with the exception of large modern-ish apartment building that sits in front of the Inn. Hurts the ambience a bit but it’s worth it to be so close to the ocean and nearby restaurants. We parked on the street. It was very easy to find a spot and it was free.

The Bedford Inn was very disappointing. The room was nothing like the photos — outdated, cramped, and uncomfortable. The “bathroom” was basically a closet, the bed uneven, the coffee machine broken, and the temperature inconsistent all night. Parking was terrible. Breakfast was also poor, with supposed to be hot food was cold, fruit that wasn’t fresh. While the room was clean, we left earlier than planned and skipped breakfast the next day. For the price, it’s simply not worth it.

Things have changed.

We stayed here before and it was very nice but this time it wasn’t. The room was small, we only had one chair to sit on and the bed was small and not very comfortable. The floor was sloped from the bed to the door! Very unusual! Breakfast was good. Different kind of egg frittata every morning, toast, yogurt and fruit and little packets of cereal and milk.They had muffins, hard boiled eggs,Orange juice and also coffee.That was good but on the other hand the afternoon tea and cookies that were also included in the package was served at a different bed and breakfast that was a10 minute walk from ours. It was extremely hot and walking was a challenge. That was not like that before. It was served on site. We heard that is a new owner and things have changed. The biggest problem is the parking! They have very limited space and if you take your car anywhere you can’t find a spot anymore. We had to leave our car 2 blocks from our B&B overnight and half of next day. Next time we’ll probably try another B&B.

I highly recommend the Bedford Inn. Its a great location. A block from the beach and close to restaurants and shops! The Inn itself was perfect! The rooms are all nicely decorated and clean. They have front porches on both level to sit outside. But the best part of the inn was our host Ashley. She went above and beyond taking care of all our needs. The breakfast every day was delicious. I will definitely stay there again when back in Cape May!

New Ownership

This was our second summer at The Bedford Inn which is now under new ownership. It's a very nice Inn although a bit pricey but it's the summer season. There is a nice breakfast daily but not as nice as the previous owners provided. The afternoon tea, however, has been moved from The Bedford to another property which requires a 10-15 minute walk. Totally annoying in my estimation. Also, beach badges are no longer provided. It's a lovely inn but I don't know if we'll return due to these changes.

Overall a good weekend

Overall we had a great stay. Ashley was fantastic, the location and some of the perks are great. The room we stayed in was quite small and dated - it could do with some renovation. Price is - like most places in Cape May during peak season - a big negative unfortunately. We understand the demand is driving the prices high during this season - but for $415 a night, you would expect royal comfort, treatment and amenities (beach tags aren't even available!)
