I was expecting an English country Lodge. Difficult to find the entrance as it's not well lit. The parking at the back is unlit and somewhat uneven. There was a guy smoking pot at the door to reception. The smell was quite distinct. The advertised Lift does not work. We had 4 suitcases ranging from 18-24 kg and the rooms were upstairs. If the room door is open,you can't open the toilet door and vice versa because they open into each other. The bed fills the room and no way to get in from the other side. Bed is very creaky and one person climbing over another to get to the side close to the wall makes a hell of a racket.Toilet is placed in such a way that you have to sit sideways to avoid knees hitting the shower door and then the knees are under the tiny washbasin.We didn't have a shower as there is no space except for a very small person.so don't know if the shower works.

Pros: The façade is the best thing about this establishment and totally belies what lies within.
Cons: EVERYTHING!!!!!!!
The room and facilities were dirty and breakfasts disgusting. We would never recommend this establishment to anybody. We only wish we had done a little more research before making our booking.

Good location

The location was good. But there were no staff to talk to and the bed was uncomfortable.

Location: Location good bus stop handy
Shower did not work. Quite dirty and uncomfortable only good thing it was cheap.

Shelford Lodge okay, but need transport to access.

Location: Walk around the centre of town and see wonderful architecture (it's like being in a Harry Potter movie). Take a punt ride down the river Cam.
Shelford Lodge was okay. You would need a car if you wanted to stay there because it is quite a distance from the centre of town, although the literature in our room indicated that there is a bus stop close by. We stayed in Room 0 which had an ensuite. There was a pleasant view out the window (lovely trees), and the room was warm and comfortable, but tiny, so little room for 2 large bags. In the ensuite, we were not sure if the toilet bowl was just discoloured, or absolutely filthy. There was off-street parking. Breakfast was okay.
