Dan, unfortunately we were always doomed to fail. Your booking was for the Signal Box although you wanted the Governors Carriage, a number of communications all via email followed, check in times were questioned even though they are clearly displayed on the website. On arrival your partner was aggressive continuously raising her voice and threatening to post videos on social media as she believed there had been a breakdown in communication. Given that communication was via email I do not see how this could be the case. A security system allows this encounter to be revisited demonstrating aggression which I do not need to tolerate thus a refund was immediately given to you before departure.

Everything was lovely. Location great. Close to the local hotel which had excellent food. Very cold and heating took a long time to warm up. Would be nice for future guests if host could put the heating on a few hours before arrival of the guests.

Thank you for your review, I am pleased you enjoyed your stay. Our policy has always been to respond to your booking once the credit card has been processed, we ask for an arrival time in order that we can have the heating on for your arrival and as the website says so as we can be there to let you in to your accommodation. Unfortunately your reply came several hours after we replied and allowed just enough time for me to get to the property before your arrival. The floor heating operates year round and I would have had the split system on for you had time allowed. Again thanks for your feedback.

Quirky & Cute

Pros: Quirky & Cute Location a stones throw to a great local pub, The Swiss Mountain with great food.
Great venue for overnight stay, comfortable & warm. The TV was limited to the ABC, with the bad reception. The provisions were minimal. We stayed for 2 nights, but only had 4 coffee sachets between us. It was nice that we were provided with milk & bread but only enough jam for 2 slices of toast each. For the cost of the stay, I expected a small basket of locally sourced produce. This would have made the experience more luxurious to match the accomadation.

Tracy thank you for your feedback regarding your stay. It is unfortunate that you felt that the breakfast provisions fell short of your expectations. We provided a full loaf of bread for your stay and note that there was none remaining on your departure. Over the last 20 plus years I always say to guests that if you are concerned about anything or need anything during your stay please let me know either by phone or coming to reception, this would have allowed us the opportunity to provide additional provisions you felt you needed. We are quite clear about what we provide on the website, and contacted you a month before your stay regarding your requirements. Your reply three days beforehand simply specified your preference of bread and milk as requested. We are happy to provide additional items on request but a review a week later doesn't offer us the option.

Train Carriage in a semi rural bushland setting

Pros: Loved the old worldly charm of the Train Carriage interior
Cons: Fix the bath.
Location: A nice bush setting in a semi rural area. Fine dining available in nearby Daylesford.
Found the accommodation to rather nice, comfortable and a little old worldly. The setting didn't quite come across as shown on the website - these photos need to be updated. Breakfast was a light continental breakfast - an appropriate start to the day. Dinner was purchased in near by Daylesford and brought back to the Train Carriage. If staying in the Train Carriage eating out is a must for dinner - toaster, microwave and kettle are the only cooking facilities. Loved the spacious bathroom, but was disappointed with the condition of the bath - lifting and cracked enamel along the scaffolding outside the window. Had come hoping to have a soak and missed out.

Thank you for your comments. Sorry you were disappointed with your stay. We clearly state on all websites that there is only a continental breakfast and that there are no cooking facilities. There are a great number of dining alternatives to enjoy throughout the area. The scaffolding was removed three weeks ago following a complete repaint of the carriage and re coating of the roof, our apologies that you feel it detracted from your stay. Sadly the bath needs resurfacing following a lack of care by some guests. As you will have noticed it can not be taken out and re enamelled as it will not fit through the doors. Re- enamaling will need to be done in situ and during warmer weather. We are conscious of maintenance and it is an ongoing project. We ask all our guests to provide us the opportunity during their stay to address any concerns, clearly you felt your stay did not measure up and we would have been happy to arrange an alternative for you if given the chance.
