Our room was fine. It was clean which is always a plus. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great with a good selection. But the grounds were terrible. The pool area and common areas outside were dirty and absolutely covered in bird droppings. It was obviously not being maintained. Also some of the other guests were a little intimidating. They were gathered outside of various rooms in groups clearly under the influence of alcohol which we had to walk past to go to breakfast or the office. As we walked past there were comments and stares. For two older women traveling alone we found this unsettling. Let me be clear these were not friendly greetings. I would hesitate to recommend this place.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The floor on the room hadn't been cleaned in a while and was sticky. Barn swallows were nested in the courtyard/pool area. You took your chances of being bombed by bird poop on the way to your room. Bird poop was everywhere. But, the burds were very cute in there nests, which would make you want to over look the mess.

Very dirty! Excellent breakfast staff.

When we first arrived the room was clean and comfortable. We were staying for 8 nights. Our room wasn't serviced for 4 days so I took our trash to the office and asked for a new trash bag. Office staff just took the trash and handed me a new trash bag. The next evening our room had still not be serviced so went to the front desk and asked how often they serviced rooms. The lady asked how long it had been since our room was serviced. I said never. She seemed shocked asked the room number and said she had it scheduled. Next day a lady came in swept the floor, asked if we needed towels, we got those, a roll of toilet paper etc. The pool area outside our room always had a LOT of bird poop which you had to always try to walk around. It was never cleaned. The pool itself was always dirty with bird droppings and feathers. On the 7th day when we returned to the room our key didn't work. Went to the office and were told our 8 day reservation was over. Did we want to extend our stay? Good grief! Ended up being charged for 2 more nights. Our floor was gritty from not being cleaned and I was overchared and got no room service. I will say the breakfast in the mornings were good and Katie who was the breakfast attendant was helpful, friendly, and very cheerful. A kudos to her! Our total stay cost $782.96. We could probably have rented an apartment for that amount. Extremely disappointed in the usually high end Quality Inn.

The property was really run down, the room was very stinky, the bathroom smelled moldy, especially the curtain, and in general the room was raggedy with a lot of beat up spots and poor quality towels (my towel had wholes in it and a sign in marker “pool” on it). I was on a road for 5 nights and stayed in different hotels of 100$ range and this was by far the worst stay.

My assessment of our stay

The beds were comfortable. The AC worked. But the toilet got plugged up. We got it unplugged by pouring water in it with the small trash can by the sink. I think that's the first time a toilet plugged up on me at a hotel. Other than that incident...a nice place with a great Mexican restaurant nearby.

Very positive first impression

This was our first stay at a Quality Inn (based on many guest reviews) and my wife and I found the property, the price, and especially the staff to be outstanding. On our return trip in 3 months, we will definitely return. The delightful woman who greeted us, Shar-Marie, was as friendly as she was helpful. A young maintenance young man quickly found towels to clean up my spilled coffee. Can’t say enough about our stay in Benson.
