I paid for 2 rooms in advance with Expedia. When my partner checked in the day before I arrived they refused to let her check in without an additional payment of 600 euros as she doesn't have a credit card in her name at the moment. I had to pay this online. When I checked in the next day the staff refused to refund this money until we checked out. We felt like criminals.

Style over substance.. a lot of platitudes from the staff but only the more junior staff actually helpful. There was a clear focus on profit and getting money in rather than providing a good overall service. The hotel was classed as a spa hotel. But they spa was tiny and was run by another company who again wanted paying before anything was open to be used. Nothing worth using there. In the room Safe broken, workers light left in wardrobe, blackout blind did not go all the way down. a lot of noise from the staff in the morning using the storage rooms opposite and having loud conversations. Room service trolleys kept outside room, yet when I left the 'please clean room' sign nothing happened. I paid for 2 rooms in advance with Expedia. When my partner checked in the day before I arrived they refused to let her check in without an additional payment of 600 euros as she doesn't have a credit card in her name at the moment. The staff is great. Always helpful. The location is also great, you can walk to many of the sites in Barcelona but is also two blocks from one of the major transit hubs, including the train to the airport. I have always stayed in the duplex rooms, which are all different and a little quirky.

Terrible hotel and very disrespectful staff. There was literally sewage coming up the drain in our bathroom and the staff did not respond to my request for compensation. This is supposed to be a five star hotel but they act more like a no star hotel. Avoid staying there.

Didn’t particularly enjoy the bed. Location was great and staff was nice. Had an issue one night reception made a reservation for us, then let us know they restaurant was closed and it auto forwarded to the next night, asked us if we would like to cancel because we already had plans, I said yes. Nothing was done I got a call the next night saying I’d be charged a cancellation fee for no show…. Upsetting, nothing worth fighting over so I just bit the bullet here….
