Feeling tempted? We’ve pulled together some of our favourite family overseas but not too far from home…

Fiji: Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Denarau Island

For a tropical escape only a short flight away (less than a four-hour flight from the East Coast), the Radisson Blu Resort Fiji ticks the boxes and ensures a memorable holiday for all.

At this resort kids are treated like VIPs and are even welcomed on arrival with their own personalised check-in experience and Banana Club ‘kids club’ passport.

The resort is spread across 10 acres with tropical gardens and four lagoon pools, a white water slide, four family friendly restaurants, affordable babysitting, free kayaking and a day spa. If that’s not enough, the family can even learn how to basket weave, crack a coconut, watch cultural shows and traditional dances, all without even having to leave the resort.

Bali: Padma Resort Legian

Bali is a family favourite and the perfect destination to mix relaxation with a cultural holiday for the kids. Wotif suggests staying at Padma Resort in Legian, which offers families two bedroom balcony suites only a short walk from the beach.

There is plenty of fun to be had at this resort, with the ‘Wolly Club’ catering to kids aged four and over and offering activities such as Indonesian cooking classes, mask-making and even t-shirt painting. There’s also a children’s pool and playground. Breakfast is included and for lunch and dinner there’s a choice of five restaurants offering a mix of cuisines and dishes for all appetites.
