Why 30$ aud charged for a single ticket booking

The service has been ok so far, except for a big issue of Wotif debiting my account for the cost of the hotel TWICE. I called the customer service centre and was told it’s a holding fee and that it was only pending. But that doesn’t help me, as the money has left my account, which I feel is criminal, as they shouldn’t be able to withdraw money from an account that isn’t theirs. I could get dishonour fees if that money doesn’t return to my account as soon as possible, which is causing me some distress. I was told it would take 72 hours for the money to be returned. I don’t believe it’s legal to do that and I’m very tempted to forward my complaint to Fair Trading. After all, losing that money is costing me money in interest on my home loan. Very disappointed. I thought Wotif was a good business until this happened.
March 28, 2019Disappointing. We made an error booking the apartment, accidentally confirming 2 apartments at the same time on 2 separate computers. One through a different site. Both were non-refundable. I contacted Wotif within 5 mins of this error to see if they could cancel the booking, but they could not. I understand the non-refundable aspect, but this was made in error and I tried to reverse the booking instantly to no avail.

March 28, 2019The website is misleading as it did not show fees and charges and after I made the payment as advertised it appeared that fees and charges will be added to the cost. The website specified there is a sale of 16 percent. Instead they charged me more

Terrible.
During the booking process, i received a timeout message, no booking confirmation notification to state the transaction occured online.
After sourcing another hotel through a competing hotel booking provider, and receiving an online conformation, going through my emails later identified that my original booking was made. No refund given when i contacted Wotif prior to 2pm on the day of the booking.
I learnt my lesson, stick to the better service providers.
I have since discussed this with others who reflect their own stories of similiar circumstances.

I have booked a trip to Sydney from Brisbane, the staff that helped me made the booking on phone arranged my rental car pickup at the International airport at Sydney (Kingsford Smith Intl.). I am shocked because I was arrived at the Domestic airport from Brisbane. I call wotif and they gave me a number to contact Firefly to arrange a pickup BUT the number is not working at all. I called wotif the second time and they gave me another number BUT also not working. I called the 3rd time to wotif and this time they redirect me to Firefly, a lady picked up the call and it took us nearly 5 mins and finally that lady said she is at the company in America ! Then she redirect the call to Sydney branch company and I heard a recording “Welcome to Hertz…” I hang up as this is not Firefly. I am desperate as none of the wotif staff is helpful and got stuck at the airport nearly 2 hours (every phone call above took a long time before someone pick up my call). Finally, I tried my luck to goto Hertz and surprisingly that they said they found my booking on their system and they told me that Firefly and Hertz are same company!!! Why no one tell me at the first place !! Do you know how we suffer at the airport with my parents? Wotif, thanks for the nice setup and no more wotif !
