The humble snag has long become one of Australia’s favourite foods! As part of Wotif’s Festival of Wot initiative, Aussies had the chance to nominate and vote for their favourite festival and Mudgee won – a nod to the region’s highly regarded butchers.

  1. What should I bring?

You’ll need your photo ID (if you want to have a drink at one of our designated licensed bar areas), your EFTPOS or credit card, cash for activities and stalls, sun protection (slip, slop, slap!), insect repellent, and an umbrella or raincoat if it looks like it’s going to rain (as the festival will be outdoors). You might also want to bring a picnic rug for your lunch (to really embrace the backyard barbecue vibe). And definitely bring your phone or point-and-shoot camera, because there will be LOTS of great (and hilarious) photo ops.

  1. What should I leave at home?

The Festival of Snags is a fun and safe community event – but we’ll need your help to keep it that way! This means you won’t be allowed to bring the following onto festival grounds: Drinks of any kind (except for sealed or empty water bottles), outside food (don’t worry, there’ll be plenty of delicious food inside!), pets (other than assistance animals), tents, eskies, alcohol or drugs, skateboards, rollerblades, roller shoes, frisbees, drones, weapons (including pocket knives or any items which may reasonably be considered for use as a weapon), fireworks, goods for unauthorised trading, goods with unauthorised festival logos, items that may cause offence or any other flammable, dangerous or suspicious items.

  1. Can I bring my own food and drink?

The Festival of Snags is all about celebrating Mudgee’s incredible local food, wine and produce, and supporting local businesses. A big part of the fun will be sampling all the local delicacies at the many food and drink stalls. In the spirit of the day, no outside food or drink will be allowed but can be purchased on the day at the festival.

  1. What sausages are available?

Thanks to some of the region’s best local butchers, including S&S Meats, Let’s Meat, Mudgee Lamb, Perry Street Meats and the award-winning Gulgong Butchery.
