I think I got bed bug bites from this hotel. When I was packing up to leave I noticed a brown stain on the sheet. Could have been blood or chocolate. I didn't think much of it at the time. But according to online resources "early sign of bed bugs are bloodstains on your sheets". This paired with bites appearing on my arms and legs doesn't feel like a coincidence.

Don’t stay during warm weather, Bad Air Conditioni

Air conditioning system old and recycled warm air, no cooling. They even have a printed note in your room about it. When I turned it up the noise was like a motorbike trying to start. They know about it but just apologies and was told to open my window! I slept on top of the duvet as the bed sheet was rough. Breakfast was okay, no bacon or sausage etc. They offer falafel! Never seen that before…

Sorell Hotel Rütli was a convenient place to stay with access to lots of restaurants, cafes, and historic Old Town. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. We would stay here again.

Close to everything

We stayed only one night but wishing we had more time. Zurich has small town feel in a big city. Public transportation is so easy ! Hotel breakfast was much more than pastry and we appreciated that service.

Nice hotel within a short walk from the train station. Very close to an area with cafes, restaurants and stores. Around the corner from a “polybahn” that takes you up the hill for a beautiful panoramic view of the city.

Small but nice place, close to train station and downtown. We walked everywhere. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Much appreciated, thank you! Breakfast was good with a wide variety of offerings. Like many places we found it did not have AC (and it was quite warm and humid when we visited). But the open window and fan helped.

I had mistakenly booked my room for the day i would be leaving rather than arriving. But the clerk changed it for me and provided a room. I was very grateful for this. However, the room was extremely small and hot even by European standards. The location was fantastic, at only 5 minute walk from the train station, but the quality of the accommodation was below what it should have been for the price.

The location was nice. The weather in Zurich was hot, in the 80's. So were the rooms. No real Air Conditioning. Hallway was slightly cooler, as was the lobby. Our friends had the same issues in their rooms. I tried to adjust it all different ways. Man at the desk said that's as good as it gets. We would take a cold shower before bedtime and in a couple hours would have a wet pillow from sweat. Cracking open the windows didn't help. Employees were nice.

The best thing about this hotel for us was it was close walking distance to Zurich HB train station. The Worst thing about this Hotel is IT DOES NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING IN THE ROOMS! What Hotel in the year 2025, in Zurich, Switzerland no less, does not have ice cold, air conditioning blowing? Not broken. Non existent and it happened to be very hot in Zurich the weekend of June 20th to the 22nd, 2025. I spent over $800 dollars for a 2 night stay. More than I spent for the same in Paris, Nice and Venice on the same trip in mid June 2025. All of those countries had air conditioning and the Hotels were beautiful. My room looked nothing like the picture the site uses to advertise a standard, Queen room. The closest picture I could find for the room we were given is one they show as a single standard. Our room had a larger than single bed but it didn't feel like a Queen bed. It had one pillow, no sheet to use as a cover and a heavy duvet cover folded, laying in the middle of the bed. 1 coffee cup, 1 large towel and 1 small towel. I had to go to the front desk and ask for towels and a pillow to which the man on the front desk (who I will say was nice at least) took me to the basement supply room and let me pick what I wanted. The room itself felt like a college dorm room or hostel with a nice small bathroom. It was very clean but the wall paint is the bumpy, sandy type used for cheap cover up. Misleading advertising! Kudos to the photographer! The Hotel is in a great area!

Only stayed for one night, therefore did not have time to enjoy the hotel. Only problem was that we could not work out how to switch off the lights, so ended up unplugging them rather than bothering the staff. Nice breakfast, great location and an essy walk to the station, lake, old town etc.
