The cottage #1007 was in the rustic American style. Very clean, well-maintained, and cute. I napped in the hammock on the terrace some afternoons. The owner and staff were very helpful. Definitely I will come back.

We loved the eclectic French theme of the design of our cottage, and the carefullly curated furnishings. All the cottages and other structures in the premises have been purposefully designed with a faux antique theme by the owner. The entire facility is tucked away from the main road, and is very quiet and charming. The owner is extremely personable and friendly. It was a pleasure getting to know him and his wife. I would strongly recommend this place for anyone looking for a quiet vacation spot to relax, or for a romantic getaway.

I felt like I was in a cabin and had a porch to sit outside and drink coffee in the morning. There is a bus stop close by. I did walk to Anbo, it was about 35 minutes. The gentleman who owned the property was very accommodating and spoke English. I liked the wood beams and chandelier.

Excellent stay on a beautiful island

What a delightful stay! This was absolutely perfect for my time on Yakushima, and exceeded my expectations. The owner was very welcoming, speaks excellent English, and clearly takes pride in the property, which is in a quiet and scenic spot but a short drive from town and convenient to arrival/departure points. Communication before my arrival was also great. Everything was clean, just as pictured, and well stocked. The beds were probably the most comfortable I slept in during my time in Japan (key after long days of hiking!). The cottage was spacious and I appreciated the small kitchen as dining options on the island are somewhat limited. Laundry was very convenient too. No complaints at all and I highly recommend a stay here!

The cottages are very cute and comfortable. Also the kitchen is well equipped. We made breakfast every morning. The owner of the property is very friendly, professional and helpful. He made a reservation for us at the sushi restaurant Iso no kari ,which was amazing and very authentic. Also the Slow pasta restaurant was very good. They both are 10-15 walk from the property.

My experience at Cottage Morinokokage was fantastic. The kindness and hospitality of Mr. Nakashima cannot be understated. The cottage was pleasant, comfortable, and full of every amenity we wanted (plus more). Mr. Nakashima helped us book our car rental, which was an essential part of the island experience for us. Getting to come and go as needed and stock up the car with hiking supplies was incredibly helpful. We also leaned on him for reservations for dinner and to a chopstick making class near the airport. Yakushima is a truly special place and Cottage Morinokokage was an essential part of the experience.

Cottage Morinokokage is absolutely beautiful and Disney-like. Situated in a quiet little corner of stunning Yakushima, it is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation. Our quaint wooden cottage blew me away- comfortable and warm futons, lots of space, all the amenities you would need, and a very clean, lovely bathroom. We also had such a warm welcome from the owner, who spoke good English and is really friendly and cute! Location wise, it is near Port Anbo but quite a distance from the main and busier port- Miyanoura. As the public buses are really infrequent, travelers who don’t drive (like us) should study the bus schedules beforehand and plan their itineraries accordingly. If you drive, that’s even more reason to stay at this magical place. A simple breakfast of bread is provided, and for a small cost they also provide delicious bentos for your hikes, which we really loved! For me, enjoying the cottage was an attraction in itself :) as a bonus, lots of stars come out to play on a clear night- wonderful treat for stargazers. I only just left the cottage and I miss it dearly already.

This is the perfect place to stay on Yakushima. Each house is charming, excellent amenities. Washing machines on property. Excellent location. The owner is extremely nice and helpful, he speaks English. Our stay was great. In general on Yakushima rental car is a big help it’s super easy and inexpensive to rent right next to airport they pick you up and drop you off for your flight/ferry. But as far as hiking I would recommend a guide because roads to hiking trails are one lane with two way traffic on them very high in the mountains coming from US I was too scared to drive there myself, around the island is fine. We had the best guide ever, Mizuha for 3 days, her company is office@sangakutaro.com there is no website in English yet but they speak English. They are the best.

The place was very nice, quiet, conveniently located. Owner was very friendly, washer and dryer were very useful. There is a set of vending machines that are available on-site with food, drinks, etc. if you need anything. They provide other services if you request it (bento lunches, etc.).

Great find in Yakushima

We really enjoyed staying here, the owner was very helpful before we arrived ensuring we had all the information prior to our stay such as taxis, ferry tickets etc. The cottages themselves are very cute, very clean and had a rustic charm. We wanted a more authentic Japanese stay and this more than surpassed that. Location is very close to Anbo, the airport and Miyanoura isn't too far. So glad we chose this over a standard hotel.

建物の可愛らしさで瞬時に決定しましたけど、アメニティも充実していて、リネンもルームウェアも肌触りの良いものでした。スタッフの皆様も明るく親切で心地よい距離感で素敵な時間が過ごせました。一戸一戸内装が違うと思いますけど、私のお部屋はシャンデリアのある女性なら喜ぶ装飾が随所に施されていて素敵でした。ランドリー施設もあり、山や海に出かける方も便利です。ゴミの分別が少し難しいですけど、エコを意識する良い機会でした。もちろん客室は清潔で冷暖房や空気清浄機などホテル並みの設備があって、お風呂は湯船と洗い場が別の広々したものでした。疲れた体を癒せます。ベッドのマットもエアウィーヴみたいな寝心地でした。使わなかったけどハンモックもありました♪
