The location was great. The room was ok for a night However I could hear everything from the room next door and out in the hall. I think the rooms next door was worse because it appears to be a joining room. The bed was apparently a double but there is no way you could fit 2 people in there comfortably. There was quite a bit of wear and tear in the bathtub (big chips out of the enamel and the whole bathroom could do with a revamp. Breakfast was great. Bit of a downside that they don’t do dinner meals (wasted opportunity) but there is a really good whetherspoons restaurant just around the corner.

The room was a good size and was very functional, although I couldn't get the shower to run hot water, but the bath would, so a bath it was. A little bit noisey but not bad. Bed was a bit hard. Great location.

Handily located in the heart of Carlisle with friendly, helpful staff. A bar fridge in the room would have been useful. Hotel parking is limited and expensive, but more affordable options are within walking distance

Hotel located centrally near the railway station. Would have, perhaps, been more generous with the rating if not for tha slack service we had at the evening meal and noisy neighbours - rooms back onto the backs of other pubs and clubs

I upgraded my room which put us in a larger room on the front of the hotel. It was a bank holiday weekend and hot. We had to open our windows as there is no air conditioning. This was the downfall of our stay. The local bars had blaring music going until 02:00 and then across the road from the hotel is a taxi rank so we then had all the noise of the revellers attempting to get taxis. We did not get a wink of sleep until around 03:00. Then at 06:00 the council came round with road sweepers and guys with leaf blowers making a real racket. So our stay gave us around 3 hours of sleep. Now this outside noise is not the hotel's fault but they could have warned us because if they had we would not have accepted this room. I did ring down to reception at around 01:30 but they said they were fully booked so could not move us. In the morning I naturally went to reception and made my complaint. Their initial response was that this was not their fault. I said that they could alleviate this with noise reduction glazing, air conditioning etc. We cannot do any of this was their reply because the building is listed. Well this is not the case as unknown to them my wife works in the insurance industry as a surveyor and can be classed as an expert on this matter. Natalie looked after our complaint and offered us 2 free breakfasts and money off. I was not happy with this and asked for 50% off. Natalie sorted this and followed us up on the phone so well done to her

Very friendly and helpful front desk staff (Donna) we got allocated our favourite room. Definitely recommend this hotel for a day/night out in Carlisle, and next door to the train station too, but you wouldn’t believe it as there was no noise at all in the bedroom. ❤️

Disappointed with the standard of my room. I had the opportunity to upgrade from a standard room to an executive room. I have previously stayed in a standard room before, but I really struggled to see the different between a standard and an upgraded executive room. The bathroom was extremely outdated and the woodwork panelling was pretty poor. The carpets were threadbare, and on closer inspection, I could see a white creepy crawly coming from the carpet. I really wish I hadn't upgraded
