Britannia Hotels - accommodation in Whitley Bay

We arrived quite late to a welcome free car park, rear access. With a room on the 2nd floor and the lift out of order (for a long time, apparently) we were struggling up the stairs when a member of staff got us help with the bags, which was great. Staff were always friendly and helpful. The room was basic - there was a weird 1 inch gap under the door which was weird. The bathroom was tired but functional and toiletries were supplied. There were no useful sockets by the beds though and 2 bedside lamps but only one with a 3-pin regular plug we could use! The 3 beds were comfy, sheets were clean and the room was large. Overall, it was fairly basic, considering it wasn't cheap. The hotel is tired - needs a lot of TLC but was perfectly adequate for our stay. Shame they can't be bothered to fix the lift.
