After a slight mistake understanding the hotel gave us a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe room. The room was beautiful clean modern decorated and warm. My only point out would be for a deluxe room probably would have a seaview. We overlooked the back of properties and the car park. If I had paid for this type of room I probably would have made a complaint

Booked for a last minute get away.

We had a fantastic time at the Grand. The hotel is currently undergoing some needed renovation work, but overall its not an issue. It would have been nice if we could adjust the heating in our room, rather than rely on the windows being open, but it was manageable. I'm sure once all rooms are complete it will be amazing. The fat badger bar had a great vibe and fantastic staff. The staff on check in were really helpful too. Limited parking spots, but for a fantastic location with views across the sea and to the Abbey it's certainly worth it.

Parking a problem.

Parking a big problem for such a big hotel. Having to pay at certain times of the day is crazy. Should be free if your a paying guest. Hotel rooms clean restaurant had good choice of food my room had excellent views across Whitby. Would say again.

Small car park bit iffy parking there, gale through night rattling old windows and draughty too (looks like they are replacing which will cure that) colour scheme in reception and bar area depressingly dark , like a funeral parlour !!!! Overall it was ok and new windows will be a massive improvement

We had a lovely big room with beautiful view and good room facilities, plus very good shower and toiletries. Only problem was room above had horrendous noisy floorboards and we heard everytime the toilet/ shower was used even the flush. Not great during the night.

We were in an old room which faced the car park on 3rd floor. It needed a good update. A large bedroom and large bathroom. Unmatched taps. There was protective tape on the floor in the corridor so presume work was being done on that floor. There were only 2 sockets available in the room for kettle/tv/hairdryer/phone charger so you were always on your knees unplugging something. However, it was comfortable and everything worked ok

The Fat Badger is a very welcomed addition to the Royal Hotel. Hotel is obviously undergoing refurbishment. Beds could be a little more comfortable, but overall a really nice stay at a very affordable price!

Blood stain on mattress cover and something sticky on duvet cover - Had to have bed changed at 11pm by reception staff. No apology from night shift receptionist- he just said it was strange!! Workmen all over hotel . Our shower caused a leak in room under ours. House keeping left used glasses in room . It was all a bit sad really.
