This was a great comfortable stay, it was only 1 night and would of been nice to stay longer

A lovely experience - I wish we could have stayed longer. A stunning old villa with a lot of history. Personally I would have liked a small brochure about the building and its history along with the history of the area - but the host was very knowledgeable about the area - which says a lot about a place - this isn't just an investment. These people are grounded in the area.

A beautiful boutique B&B

Lupton Lodge is set in the countryside with lovely gardens and the original dry stone fences. From the time we were greeted by the very friendly and knowledgeable Karen to when we sadly had to leave 2 days later, when we were farewelled by Andy, our stay had been perfect. We stayed in the very spacious and very tastefully decorated upstairs loft. The bathroom was huge with lovely views into trees and the farm. Andy cooked up a great breakfast every morning to get our day started. When I broke my wrist, at a local observatory, Andy went out of his way to make sure I had plenty of pillows to support my arm. I couldn't have been in a better place when I was feeling miserable. Although Lupton is not in central Whangarei it is definitely well worth staying at because of the setting and very friendly owners.

The two bedroom apartment worked great for our family. Great location - very relaxing. Breakfast was lovely and no issues in catering for gluten free in our group.

A rural retreat

Pros: Old world accommodation but all mod cons
Cons: All good for me
Location: The coast road from Ngungururu. Beaches and boats out to the Poor Knights. Also Adventure Forest is a well planned place for Zip lines.
Thoroughly enjoyable rural retreat close to Whangarei and the coast. Great dinner and also breakfast, service excellent and staff helpful to myself and other visitors.

Perfect stay

Pros: Room comfort, staff service, immaculate presentation
Cons: Would have loved if purple room had a bath
Location: Went to Whangarei Falls and took a drive out to Whangarei Heads
I stayed in the purple room (top of barn) this week for 1 night - everything was perfect! The bed was comfortable, room spotless, hospitality couldn't be faulted. Andy made sure I had everything I needed when I arrived with takeaways for dinner. The marmalade at breakfast was the best I've ever tasted, I wonder if it is homemade? The bathroom in the purple room is huge, a spa bath right along the window would've been a nice cherry on top. If I'm ever in Whangarei for business again I will be staying here and plan to try do so in my personal time over the summer if chance allows, 1 night is not enough to take in all that this place has to offer.

Beautiful accommodation, lovely grounds

This is a stylish place. Great decor, extremely comfortable, well appointed rooms, all set in a charming established garden. Oh, did I mention Andy is an excellent cook. He gets top reviews for Lupton Lodge, and they are well deserved. Can't recommend it highly enough.
