Accommodation In Wellington

Wellington is a historical town in central New South Wales that’s full of heritage sites, spectacular nature and beautiful local wildlife. If you're looking for the perfect escape on your next holiday, you've found it. All you need to do is book your Wellington hotel with us below! The best way to explore the huge variety of 19th century buildings is to take a heritage walk through the town. Look up and marvel at the architecture, artistic local galleries or grab a coffee in one of the quaint little cafes. You can learn more about the history of the area in the Oxley Museum, which is currently housed in a wonderfully restored building first constructed in 1883. Stop in at the Lion of Waterloo Tavern, which is infamous as the site of the last duel in Australia back in 1854. Luckily, neither of the participants was hurt. Wellington's boom days were in the gold rush as prospectors flocked to the region to chase their fortune, but you can still chase the dream in Stuart Town just nearby. The river is great for panning gold, and you can see a fantastic museum full of historical mining equipment. If you prefer nature, the Burrendong Arboretum is the spot for you. It's a large botanical garden and home to over 2,000 species of Australian trees and wildflowers. Love birds? Check out the birdlife at Mount Arthur Reserve, or pack a picnic lunch and spend a relaxing afternoon by the lily pond and rose gardens in Cameron Park, right in the heart of Wellington. Lake Burrendong is an ideal location for all your water sports, so rent a canoe and go for a paddle on the water, or throw a line in and try to catch some dinner. The best fishing is at the southern end of the lake, where you can regularly catch Yellow Belly and Redfin. Visit the magnificent caves in the area with a first stop at the Cathedral Cave. The highlight of the cave is a 15m altar which has been formed out of a breathtaking combination of boulders, flowstones and stalagmites – all covered in glittering crystal calcite. Today it's a very popular location for destination weddings. Explore Gaden Cave just nearby and marvel at the bubbly limestone's close resemblance to coral, or gaze into the crystal waters in the pool which seem to continue into the centre of the earth. Wellington is a fantastic town for your next holiday. Only four-and-a-half hours from Sydney, you won't find a more peaceful escape from the busy city life. Check out our wide range of Wellington accommodation and try your luck in this gold rush capital. Who knows - you may even find your own gold nugget!
