2/10 Terrible

Not at all what we expected. You stay within a village. The shed you stay in is open to the elements, including all the bugs and rats that were in our room. Rat feces and urine on our luggage and on top of our mosquito nets in the morning. The beds are old foam on a plywood and very uncomfortable. There is 1 light and no power to the shed. The beach out front is covered in garbage, broken glass, large animal bones and rusty tin cans. The ocean was not safe to swim while we were there and I would not if it were as surely the garbage is also in the sea floor. There are a lot of wild dogs, we saw 2 dead dogs and the rest look very unwell and especially the one with an injury to his snout with exposed bone. We witnessed Paula spray industrial bug spray over top of food and eating utensils and our coffee mugs tasted like bug spray and made our tongues numb. The village is very impoverished and poorly maintained, unlike many other villages we have been to on the Yasawas. One of the locals walked past us carry a hand gun! Felt very unsafe and uncomfortable. My daughter experienced a rove beetle burn to her abdomen while sleeping under the mosquito net. We booked 5 nights as the reviews were very promising- we left after 1 night. The family are extremely friendly but the accommodation is not. If you have any mobility issues beware as the eating area is up a steep hill of poorly made cement steps and a gap in the hill you jump over. Wifi is non existent.
