New hotel close to the National Mall area, and walkable to Smithsonian museums. Parking at the hotel is very expensive though (approx. $90 per night), so if you're driving there look for alternate parking options nearby.

On arrival lights didn’t work. Moved to another room next day, couldn’t fault it, view of Jefferson Memorial (as requested) higher floor & fizz, cake & hand made chocolates left in room. Very friendly reception, housekeeping & room service. Excellent breakfast (complimentary on first morning for inconvenience on arrival) delicious & service in all areas exceptional. Room has an unclean odor, tub looks nasty, I wouldn’t sit in it; shower looks disgusting, thankfully I have my shower shoes, room needs obvious makeover. I was interested in in room dining, but the room has turned me off. It’s just one night, I can make it. I use to better quality when staying in a five star location.

I travel quite often and Salamander DC is my new favorite hotel. True attention to detail and quality throughout. Professional courteous staff, luxury beds and bedding, in room nespresso machine, soundproofed rooms, elegant bathrooms - even the spa like scent in the main areas is transcendent. Upgrade to the deluxe water view if you can. I also appreciate the hotels proximity to The Wharf where we enjoyed amazing meals and Wed night live music on the floating dock. A wonderful experience all around. You will leave feeling spoiled.
