You’re going to love our bright and cozy 1-bedroom English Basement, in a 100+-year-old rowhouse at the center of historic Capitol Hill.

Everything you want to see/do is close by, and our neighborhood offers plenty of restaurants/bars for your recovery. Walk everywhere, take the bus around the corner, walk 15 minutes to the Red or Orange/Silver/Blue lines, or grab a bike at the bikeshare.

The unit has everything you need to enjoy your time in DC--just bring a good pair of walking shoes. Coming for work? You're a 10-minute walk to the Capitol.

YOUR APARTMENT

The apartment features a Queen size bed, and a surprisingly comfy Urban Essentials Queen size sofa. Fast internet and a desk is there if you need to do some work. We also have YouTube TV, Amazon Prime, and Netflix on the TV.

The kitchen has a microwave, 2-burner hot plate, toaster, and coffee maker/Keurig. (Just no oven, so if you’re planning a big dinner it might be a problem--I mean, who wants to cook a full meal when you’re in DC?)

You will have your own private access just 3 steps down from the street, with your own electronic code for keyless entry.

We like 'em. We haven't toddler-proofed the apartment, but if there is anything you need we will try to help. Capitol Hill is a family area, and we have several parks just a short walk away.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
For coffee/breakfast, Jacob’s Coffee is just a block away and you can walk to H Street NE, Eastern Market, or 8th St SE (Barracks Row) for a relaxing night out; all are walkable.

You will find Eastern Market a delightful place to see the less-touristy part of DC, mingling with the locals on weekends to browse the flea market or visit the historic indoor market. Evening walks around the Capitol and down the Mall truly are wonderful.

Street parking is available/free if you’re driving (we will give you a 24/7 pass)—or use Uber/Lyft to let someone else do the driving.

We had the best time staying here on our trip to DC. I have stayed in rentals several times and never have had such welcoming and accommodating hosts. The government shutdown had just happened right before we were going to go and the hosts immediately messaged us to let us know what would still be open, which was greatly appreciated. The location was in an awesome part of town. Very safe and family friendly. The rooms were very very clean, and I can tell they really pay attention to the details when making it a place for guests to be comfortable. I would absolutely recommend!

Wonderful homebase for DC sightseeing!

Great use of the apartment space with plenty of room and a comfortable bed. We had everything we needed for our stay. It is close to a few bus stops. The neighborhood is quiet and felt very safe. Great hosts too! We would highly recommend!

Nothing Better Than This!

First the owners are very easy to reach and help you with anything you need. It was private and serene. It had everything I needed. Its cultural splash of DC and reading material provided a real home feel. I even left some things and the owner mailed it to me. In these days and times, its hard to find owners who genuinely work hard to make sure your stay is comfortable. Definitely my go to when I am in DC.

This neighborhood is amazing and safe. Jon was so great at communicating with us and taking care of us while we were there! We Ubered to the national mall two days in a row. I do wish it was closer to a metro but we understood that it wasn’t when we booked it. Parking is a little hairy if you are late getting back but Jon again took care of us at 11pm at night! The ac had a very tiny issue and Jon came and checked it out for us and had someone there looking at it the next morning. Jon is one of the best hosts we’ve had at any Vrbo location. Thank you for sharing your beautiful apartment with us. We hope to come back soon!
The apartment is in the basement. Go to the yellow home up the stone steps and then down to the apartment.

The floors are brick and amazing. They are stamped 1924! I would recommend houseshoes 😂. They are amazing but kinda hurt to walk on barefooted.

The host was also kind and I was able to contact him immediately through chat. The host lived upstairs, so there might be some noise between floors, but it was okay. If I go to Washington DC, it's a good place to stay again

The owner is very helpful and willing to answer any questions about the house or the area. The property was very clean with lots of character. I would 10/10 recommend this property to anyone looking to visit D.C. Location is in a neighborhood and about a 15-20 minute walk from the sights which was perfect!

Great location, Wonderful host & Quiet Neighborhood

The host Jon and Ana were wonderful. Everything in the description was accurate. Check-in and check-out was very easy. The apartment was absolutely wonderful. It had everything we could have ever needed. Jacob’s Coffee shop around the corner was a wonderful suggestion as well as Pupatella Neapolitan Pizza. There was also a rental bike station not far to help with our travel around DC. It was perfect and we very much enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay there again! This is the best VRBO we have ever stayed at. I highly recommend it!!

Great stay

Jon and Ana were wonderful. Very accommodating and helpful. Everything You could need is available. I traveled with my 13 year old son, we felt completely safe walking the neighborhood. Be sure to check out Jacobs Cafe around the corner. We drove in but used Uber for most tripd that were a bit far to walk. Easy walk to capitol building and union station. We used Uber lime scooters in the national mall area. Overall great stay and great hosts! We would definitely stay again if we return.

Perfect stay. The apartment was private, comfortable, clean, and a great location. The host was helpful and friendly. The kitchen was functional and practical. We slept 4 comfortably. Everywhere we wanted to go was a 20 minute walk away, so we saw all the sights. Trader Joe was also close, so we could buy food. Very practical. We’d certainly stay here again

Great apartment

We stayed here for a few days while visiting DC. It was exactly as listed, and Jon was so helpful with any questions we had. It’s right next to a bus stop, and less than 20 minutes for on a metro stop and lots of restaurants. There were 3 of us (two adults and a 7-year-old), and it was the perfect home base for us.
