The hotel in its common areas, halls etc is very aged and feels dirty. The paint on walls in halls wasn't finished and the rugs were old and ratty feeling. The noise in room was bad from some old heating or cooling unit outside the window, there was black mold under the soap dish in shower. Safe didn't work had to be fixed. The beds were very uncomfortable. Staff was nice and friendly. Parking easy, convenient location to where I had to be, nice coffeee/bakery nearby.

This review would have had three overall stars because the linens and towels were white and clean and there were some updates to the bathroom and wood details around the TV and bed. Notwithstanding, the roach alone was enough to deduct one star. So, from the beginning, the name of the hotel is no where to be found on the front on the front of the hotel: no awning (despite the photos), no name on the doors. If you miss the name on the side of the building, or come from a different direction, too bad. They send you a text message and ask you to do a precheck in—complete and total waste of time. They tell you upload your ID, enter all these details including CC number for nothing apparent because you have to do it all again at check in. I walk into the room and the “closet” is a hang up space in the foyer. Wouldn’t be too bad if the hanger thingies weren’t so cheap and flimsy and so easy to fall apart. The room is dated except for the tile updates in the bathroom and the wooden decorations around the TV and the bed. There were coffee stains (or some other brown liquid) on the wall. The walls in general need spackle and paint. They are old and have general ise stains throughout. I settled in and got comfortable. The morning of my departure, between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM is when it all fell apart. There was a juvenile german cockroach crawling on the toilet. This is when I lost all sense of comfort and was overcome with an urgent need to leave just as soon as possible

OK, let's be straight. The place is borderline shabby. No digital parking authorization, you have to park, walk down a ratty stairway with structurally rusted handrails, walk the length of the building to get to the front entry. Check in, get parking pass, reverse the trek to put it on your car. Then you get to make the trek once again to reenter. Lobby is not very welcoming, just one armchair. The third floor hallway seems to have been painted by someone with only a roller leaving an irregular band at the bottom unpainted. The plaster is broken in one area. The walk in shower has moldy grout. There is a strange wire rack holding rolled up towels. Rack is broken and bent. The heater unit is noisy, possibly because the grille is broken/missing. No in-room coffee or tea service. No minibar. The carpets looked like they might once have been clean. The night clerk told us that breakfast is next door. Next door is a laundry. Go figure.

PROS: -beds and pillows were comfortable and clean. -Water pressure in the shower was consistently good. -good amount of electrical outlets and lighting throughout the room. -Mirror at the desk was a nice plus -TV, iron, and hair dryer all worked well. -Curtains were of high quality and did an impressive job of blocking out light and street noise. -Housekeeping was lovely and prompt in replacing linens and emptying trash. -Front desk staff were helpful and kind. -Location is a 5min walk from the red line, accessible by bus as well, and walking distance from dining options and a gym. Couldn't have asked for a better location at this price. Cons: -hotel is clearly rolling in newer renovated features, but the hallways remain stuck in 1990. All of the carpet in this building has seen better days. -Noiseproofing could be better between floors, the main issue being the ability to hear everyone in the building's phone alarms. -I wished there had been a water fountain and bottle refill station on site. As well, only the ice machine on the second floor was in service. -My main gripe and possible deal breaker in the future was the lack of fridge or microwave in the room, which ultimately led to me having to spend more on food during my trip than I anticipated. This hotel was certainly passable, clean and safe, and the location is wonderful. That being said, it's sad to see that this location lags behind its potential, especially with such great staff.
