Centrally located in the heart of Cleveland Park/Forest Hills, this gorgeous stately Federal Townhouse English basement apartment is located on a SAFE, quiet tree-lined block, just two blocks from the Metro and the Scandinavian Embassy, Levine Music School, Howard Law School and Burke High School. Relax in a private space after a long, lovely day enjoying DC.
This apartment has its own private entrance, a few steps from the walkway. Relax in a cozy space after enjoying site seeing in DC. Come ‘home' to a fully renovated private apartment with separate entrance, a small fully-stocked kitchen with sunny windows, a new bathroom, a 40" Samsung Smart TV and a full size washer/dryer. We have personalized QR codes for WiFi access as well as Property and Neighborhood details. Please note, there is no dishwasher; however, eating utensils are sanitized before you arrive and high-touch areas are cleaned with Clorox disinfectants. The master bedroom has a California King size bed with a super comfortable Casper mattress and the second bedroom has two full size beds (both with Casper mattresses). There is also a pull out sofa - enough space to accommodate 6 people. This apartment is 2 blocks from the local Giant grocery store, CVS and several wonderful ethnic restaurants. You can also walk to the various Embassies or head straight into Rock Creek Park, by Peirce Mill. The property is easily accessible to the UDC/Van Ness Metro Station (2 blocks), bus stops (1 block) and City Bike Share (1 block) and scooters galore. If you have a car, we can secure a parking permit for our block and may be able to offer garaged parking for an additional fee, though check with us first.

Guest access
You will have access to the entire 2 bedroom basement garden apartment, with its own separate entrance. You also have access to the backyard which has a fire pit, turf area and basketball hoops. Very private space. Come and go as you please!

Other things to note
We have three children who would happily entertain yours if you arrive as a family. We are just steps away from several Embassies (Netherlands, Indonesia, Kuwait, Honduras, and others) as well as the Howard University School of Law, and several local independent schools and universities (Sidwell, Burke, American U., Georgetown U, etc) If you have any associates at those locations, you are extremely close!

*bonus: If you need a sitter, our teenage daughter loves to babysit and is often available!

Host (Rod) was very responsive and considerate, alerting us of updated items/upcoming events. Location was excellent, very walkable with good grocery/food options. Amenities were just what we needed. Having an extra bedroom was super helpful for 3 adults in one space and the common/living room area was both room and comfy. Would definitely stay again, especially for longer DC stay and if wanting to avoid going out for every meal. Thanks Rod and Gabrielle!

Rod was a wonderful host, getting back to me quickly regarding questions and providing lots of on-point recommendations. He met us on the walkway to the property right on schedule, and we got to meet his kind wife and three kids that first day. The neighborhood is honestly beautiful, established, tree-lined, gorgeous four square homes with native gardens. Several locals walking dogs, out for jogs, pushing strollers... just a really family-friendly place. Tricky street parking. There's lots of room to spread out in the basement apartment (big leather sectional couch and a full basket of varied books and a shelf of games), a comfy king mattress plus a bed for each of our teenagers in a separate area, a kitchen with dishes and glasses and ready-to-go ice in the freezer, and a dining table with 6 chairs. Rod left 3 metro cards for us on the dining table so that we could simply load fare right on to them during our stay. Huge refrigerator, washer/dryer tower in kitchen, excellent window A/C unit which was super duper helpful during the 100 heat wave last week of June 2025. Small but serviceable bathroom. Can hear family walking above.We were able to walk to UDC across the street, to many embassies (extra security near Israel embassy at this point), and past cute restaurants and the local Giant grocery store. It only took us about 8 minutes to walk to the Van Ness metro station and about 20 minutes to walk south to the Smithsonian Zoo. We felt safe!

Perfect Car-free / Family Friendly

Great place to stay and had everything we needed as a family of four. Kitchen has all the appliances needed to cook any mean. Beds were very comfortable and the "kids" room was separate enough from the living area they could go to sleep without being disrupted by the living area. The house was a very easy walk to a metro station. Had no concerns walking to it with our 9yo daughter and never had to cross a major road to get to an entrance. Backyard area was beautiful. Could not have asked for a better place or host.

Perfect Stay to Explore DC

We had a great stay. It was the perfect size for my family of 4. Each kid got their own bed and loved sharing the bedroom. It was close to the metro. We embraced public transportation daily. Easy checkin and out. Would definitely stay again if we visit DC.

A wonderful stay

It was a wonderful time. The apt was exactly as it was stated. Owner was at our service whenever needed. Totally private...great location for Metro. Grocery store on way back to apt from Metro. Just a very nice place to stay.
