Dream getaway apartment in the foot of Gunks Ridge

Beautifully decorated space full of original art located in the foot of Shawangunk Ridge on the side of a large farm field and a forest. Get together with friends at the handmade farm dining table, feel hygge next to a wood-fired place, enjoy nature tranquility, and recharge. We provide ALL you need: clean towels, cooking essentials, complimentary high-end loose tea /coffee, friendly atmosphere, and good local advice. Apartment is a half basement part of a house but has full privacy.

A lot of small details were thought out for the guests to be comfortable, to cook meals and enjoy the place. I am very serious about the cleanliness, ready to go the extra step to make sure my guests enjoy their stay and keep improving the place all the time.

Please take a note that this is a half basement apartment is part of the big house. It is private and had separate entry but you might see/hear other people that live on the same property.

We live in a very quiet neighborhood. The place is located at the foothill of the spectacular Shawangunk Ridge. We are short 20 minute drive to the Minnewaska State Park with great hiking all year around. Gardiner, NY is 10 minutes drive. There are a lot of outdoor activities, great restaurants, wineries, farms and art galleries within a short driving distance from us.

We suggest guests have a car since we are located in a quiet rural area

Water quality:
We have our own well. Water in our area is full of minerals so sometimes it might smell like a bit of sulfur depending on mineral content. However, it is NOT harmful to your health and it is drinkable. I also do have a water treatment system that is well maintained.

Other guests:
Please take a note that this apartment is part of bigger house. Even though you will have your own private entrance and entire apartment will be yours, you should expect to hear other people being present in the same building.

Shared spaces:
Before entering in to apartment there will be utility room with washing machine and dryer. This utility room is shared space and other tenants can use washing machine and dryer.

Incense:
I like incenses and I use them so you will most probably feel it. Please take a note if you are allergic

Heights of the furniture note:
Some of the sofas and beds are 15" high which might create issues for elderly guests to get up and down. If you have any issues with the height of the furniture please take a note.

Basement
Its a half basement apartment and as such it has a bit of a basement feel to it. It has small windows and sometimes people notice a basement smell

Serg’s place was comfortable and clean! It was a perfect location for me and my friends to stay while rock climbing in the Gunks. We did not feel cramped or unsafe and the complementary tea was a hit! One thing to note is that both of the beds were low to the ground (below knee level) so if someone has knee or back problems, it might be difficult to stand up out of bed.

Over all the property was clean and staff was very cooperative. Only problems were the beds were very hard which made it hard for us to get a good nights sleep. The larger room had bugs but the owner took care of it right away. We enjoyed our stay.

This wonderful place in the nature had the comfort and the soul. My little family of 3 really enjoyed our stay. We saw the hosts and actually had a chance to speak with them - a lovely extremely friendly couple. And we were so grateful that we did because they had the best recommendation on the restaurant which was just perfect. As I said this place has a soul and character. We felt like home.

Fantastic Stay for a Hiking Getaway!

This rental was the perfect home base for our four-day hiking trip—ideally located near both Minnewaska State Park and New Paltz. We were pleasantly surprised that the space was ready earlier than expected. Inside, everything was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully appointed. It was an ideal setup for two friends, with private bedrooms and plenty of shared space to relax after days outdoors. A truly great find—grab it if it’s available!

Comfy, Beautiful Apt.

We stayed here in early fall. It was a rainy dark day. The outside did not reveal how beautiful and comfortable the inside is! My 2 friends and I had a pottery workshop right up the street. So this was very convenient. We 3 are in our 50’s, 60’s, and 80’s! We all felt completely relaxed and comfortable here! There are no steps, and we could park close to the door. You enter into a mud room, which is so convenient. The kitchen is super cute, and has nice sharp knives, smoothie blender, and pots, pans, nice plates and utensils. The dining chairs are so comfortable that we stayed up late hanging out and chatting. The 2 bedrooms have great adjustable lighting and are spacious and beautiful. We would definitely stay here again! The only suggestion is to have ice trays in the freezer. Thanks so much!

Great Space, Strange Booking Process

This space is honestly nicer than the photos look! It was cozy, clean, and very well stocked. It was easy to find and centrally located for all of the (albeit spread out) attractions in the area! The apartment is booked out by a management company, not the owner, though someone else definitely lives on site. There was weirdness around our booking process, where the management company claimed the credit card info we put into VRBO didn’t work (even though VRBO was able to pull their fees and our second payment from it) and asked us to input our information through their website. That was definitely an uncomfortable bug in the process, but everything seems to have turned out okay in the end.

This 2b apartment is just 10mins from minnewaska and 10 mins from nearest town. Very convenient if you are going to have a hiking weekend. Very nice living room and kitchen.

This place was lovely and Serg was great. Not only is the scenery in the surrounding area beautiful but there’s quite a lot to do, especially if you enjoy the outdoors. The property had great ambiance, it was so cozy cute, CLEAN and relaxing. Can’t wait to come back!

Enjoyed our stay

Place is as pictured. Host was very responsive and helpful. My nephew slept on the couch and said it was super comfortable. My only cons are the beds are low to the ground (didn’t notice that in the photos) and A/C units didn’t work well but we went in December and were able to open the windows so we were comfortable. Overall enjoyed our stay very much!!!

Awesome place, awesome host - a great stay

We (5 of us) spent 4-nights. From before check-in until our last minute it was a very enjoyable experience. Kitchen and bath were small but adequate with everything you might need. Living/dining area was spacious and filled with amenities. Great WiFi and appleTV made media and tv a breeze. When we asked some questions, Serg came over to answer and we really enjoyed the visit and conversation. We hope we can book again when we visit the area in the future.

This was such a great option for us as we were only in town for the night for a haunted house attraction. The space is extremely spacious, very nicely decorated and gave us the fall season feeling. A great stay and would definitely do it again!

Absolutely worth it!

Great place, great location—especially if you are here to send some bad-ass Kraus/Weissner routes in the Gunks—, great price, in general, just easy. The place looked great and was clean when we arrived. We had very little interaction with our host, but when we ran into him, he was kind, cool and helpful. (Not a rock-climber, but he's forgiven. Serg likes heights but mistakenly chooses parachutes over ropes.) The beds were clean and comfortable, the TV we never used, the kitchen was very useful. Suggestions for improvement... could be because we left a door open, not sure, but we were joined by an extended family of flies by day two. They were annoying, as flies tend to be. Not sure if you can do anything about it, but just an idea. Also, separate bins for garbage and recycling would be great. We only found the garbage bin. Maybe one for compost too? And if I want to be nit-picky (especially at the excellent price!), a better pot for cooking pasta would be nice. Overall, I would absolutely stay at Serg's again.

Suggest areas to improve

1-Frustrating time spent on trying to figure out (with many emails back and forth with owner) how to access regular TV channels, only to finally find out that the listing incorrectly stated they had "satellite or cable" which they did not. There were no directions for anything in the apartment. 2-Bathroom & Kitchen- long strand of black hair left on bathroom sink and in shower. Also something stuck on wall under light switch, near floor (easily cleaned by us). 3-Baseboard heating made loud noises due, most likely, to air in the lines. Some dishes were not clean (pots, lids, cups) 4-Water filter -we mentioned it was brown, needing to be changed, but 2 days later, when we were leaving, it hadn't been (the water we had to use was very cloudy) 5-Water line in ceiling of bedroom (near bathroom) made a constant vibrating noise all night. 6-Recycling- we were only told the night before we checked out to please separate recycling. We would have been happy to do that if we knew when we arrived and were told what you recycle, and provided a separate recycle container some where. 7-The morning of our check-out there was very little heat and hot water. As we were going in and out to load our car, we ran into Serg, and that is when he told us he was having trouble with the boiler. We would have appreciated a text, email, or a knock on our door to let us know.

Great spot, great access to the Gunks.

Sergay's ground level apartment was an excellent place to stay. We were two couples with two infants and were up in Gardiner for a weekend to climb at the gunks. The walls were surprisingly well insulated, so the babies didn't wake one another up. The place was clean, well-stocked, and very comfortable. Sergay was a communicative host and arrival/departure was very easy. Plus, it was a short drive to the Gunks. Would definitely recommend!

Very cute place! Communication was excellent. It was a bit out of the way for our activities and not really a walkable neighborhood but we knew this when booking. Must have a car and plan on at least a 20 min drive to get to restaurants, trails, etc. I would definitely reccomend!
