I love the James Bay Inn. This character inn is conveniently located near the downtown in a lovely neighbourhood. The staff are friendly and always willing to help you in whatever way they can. The rooms and common areas are immaculate and have a wonderful old world feel.

Beautiful suite upstairs which we enjoyed for 5 days. Location to downtown is amazing, and the restaurant and pub on site serve incredible food. Highly recommend this Hotel!!!

Our first stay at James Bay Inn was perfect. Friendly and welcoming staff. Love the heritage of the property. We walked to the harbour both day and night and loved it. Very easy parking and driving location.

It's a lovely hotel with a grand century old vibe. The public spaces and rooms are filled with wood paneling, antique furniture and a calm ambience. I enjoyed sitting on the second floor balcony just having a drink in the cold. The only caveat to do with the age of the building is it does run out of hot water I noticed and there's a lack of sound insulation between floors ; I could hear people upstairs talking.

Let's start by saying if you like your hotel shiny, new and cookie cutter then this is NOT for you. If you like your hotel quirky, eclectic with staff who try hard and value for your dollar then this may fit your bill. As I was told when I checked in, please read over the hotel description carefully so you know what you are getting. We loved the character of the place and it has a great location, a short walk to downtown and the legislature. In fact if we go to Victoria again, we're going to explore the possibility of going without our car. We love the place but we also are aware it may not be for everyone.

The staff were wonderful and very friendly! Our room was clean and cozy. The grounds are very well maintained and clean. Walking distance to downtown, and lovely sites to see on the way. We will definitely stay here next time we visit! :)
