My husband and I booked Makweti for our 15 year anniversary. I advised in advance, and we got a lovely bed turn-down. Accommodation was great, the staff were very focussed on us having a great time, and the game drives were incredible. We suppose the one thing that we would have loved is to experience a boma meal around a fire to fully complete the wonderful bush experience. All meals were restaurant meals prepared by chefs which were delicious and mostly 3 courses. All in all a great 2 days.
If you're looking for the most luxurious and intimate safari experience in Welgevonden, then look no further than Makweti. The lodge itself is simply beautiful and the rooms are lavish, spacious and private. It provides the perfect setting to relax, unwind and enjoy nature at its best. The most important consideration for us was the game drives and wow, we weren't disappointed. Our guide, Neil has called Welgevonden home for years and he clearly knows every inch of the Reserve. What’s more, his knowledge and appreciation of the eco system, animals and bird-life is beyond exceptional. Thanks to Neil, in the space of three days we saw all the animals including the rhinos, a cheetah and her cubs, and the lions which had just caught their breakfast. It was such an amazing experience we’ll never forget.
This was an exceptional experience enhanced by excitingly varied terrain and a very talented/guide.
The setting of the lodges afforded superb views and not a little excitement by its four legged visitors. The food was imaginative and very well presented by a happy chefs team especially the breakfasts. Overall organisation was both professional and of an extremely high level.
Excelent lodge with a really nice staff. Special thanks to Ellard, the ranger, due his knowledge about the big5. He was always the first driver to spot the animals. The only thing i would regret it the absence of wi-fi in private areas
