Roaches spoiled the home and the trip
I wish I could say this was a great trip, but the roach infestation made it impossible to enjoy.
On 9/5, at check-in, I noticed a couple of roaches and assumed it was a one-off. That evening, however, large numbers appeared in the kitchen sink, spreading onto counters, floors, and walls. From then on, all food had to be stored in the fridge for protection.
I reported the issue on 9/6, and later that day a note was left saying the property had been treated. Yet on 9/7, when we first used the stove, roaches were visibly filling its display panel and spilling onto the counter. I reported this too and was told maintenance would return, but no one ever came and no note was left.
By the morning of 9/8, roaches had moved beyond the kitchen; we found three in the upstairs hallway. This is not seasonal or random; it is a true infestation requiring professional extermination.
The house itself was well laid out and decently appointed, but the roaches destroyed any enjoyment of it. I travel often, live in the deep South, and have never encountered a situation this severe. Normally I don’t complain, but in this case the quality was unacceptable.
Beyond the stress, the issue caused financial and time costs: washing everything before/after use, refrigerating items meant for room temp, discarding nearly all groceries, and eating out for most meals.
Until the property is professionally treated, I cannot recommend it.
