Needs better a/c

Pretty much everything in Truth or Consequences NM is quirky and the Pelican is no exception. The size of our room (Pink #8, 2nd floor) was great with separate sleeping area with TV and kitchenette area. The bathroom was tiny - had to sit sideways on the toilet! Biggest issue was that the window a/c unit was in the kitchenette area, and wasn't able to completely cool off the sleeping area, which is not ok when it's in the 90s and doesn't cool off overnight til 5am. A free mineral springs soak is included with each night's stay, which is lovely. It's first-come, no reservations, but it worked out fine for us. My husband and I really enjoyed the soak.

Fun kitchy property. The rooms are all unique and have plenty of space. There is a variety of decor and things that give it character like original hardwood creaky floors and mismatched chairs. The spa was refreshing and nice to have the room to ourselves for that time.

The pictures look great. Colorful, creative, inviting. The reality is low-rent and dingy. I was nervous in the area; emptied my car at night. The air conditioner in the kitchen had to be overcranked to keep the bedroom cool. Ended up moving to Motel 6, which was actually cheaper but I felt safer, the space was easier to control to my liking.

I found bed bugs crawling on the bed and I brought it to managements attention they said they would give me a partial refund and that I had to stay in the same room that there was nothing they can do for me. Definitely disappointed with the customer service and won’t be staying here again which is sad because we’ve loved this place but after this I can’t see myself staying here again.

Kyle was very polite and helpful and I was so impressed with how he discreetly acknowledged my son’s disability and showed genuine compassion and concern for his safety in entering the soakers.

This is a historic property with a ton of character. We were greeted warmly and given a tour of the baths and common areas. Each room is uniquely decorated, so you are not just staying at a "hotel", it is a New Mexico cultural experience.There were an abundance of available lounging areas, and the hot springs baths are private and serene. The location is perfect for immersing yourself in the heart of the old west town. There are shops, galleries, restaurants and cafes, and it is convenient to Elephant Butte. Highly recommend!!
