Great stay

The bed and pillows were very comfortable, the shower worked well and the room was spacious and clean. Parking is free at the back of the hotel or £10 at the front. Swimming pool/jacuzzi was a nice extra. The hotel is very old but it has everything you need. The receptionist was working alone with no other support staff to help with customer requests and queries so service was a bit slow but she managed well and was welcoming

The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. We only stayed for 1 night, but got to try out the free pool for a quick swim before breakast. Breakfast was all you can eat buffet which at £10 i thought was good value. Parking is a bit of a problem, but the building is Victorian era so to be expected. The room we had was in need of a bit of TLC with the decor, but the bed was soft and clean and the ensuite was modern. We will definitely consider staying here again when we're next in Devon.

Lovely hotel

Our room was lovely clean and comfortable and the Bathroom was like new. Staff were very helpful even supplying us with glasses and ice. Breakfast was self-service plenty of choice. Good location close to beach bus stops and only a short walk to bars and restaurants

Can I just say how helpful and friendly the lady on reception was,we didn’t get her name but know she was Scottish. She made sure we had a suitable room as mobility was an issue and made sure all dietary requirements were sorted out before breakfast, she made check in Quick and easy, nothing was too much trouble. Very comfortable rooms with great beds and facilities. Yes, a bit dated in terms of furniture and cracks on walls etc but our room was spotless clean. The indoor pool area (watch out fairly deep pool!) and jacuzzi were great and empty when we visited. Breakfast was simple but perfectly good to set you up for the rest of the day. Great location right by the beach and only 15mins walk to the Marina/centre. Would stay again!

Spotlessly clean room and amazing staff

Stayed here last year so thought we would book again. The hotel has recently had a new owner and where it seemed a little dated (the bathroom) and run down in some areas (mostly outside) this was being dealt with by the new team. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable with a great view and the service from the staff were amazing, they couldn't have done any more for us. One of my friends stayed in one of the recently refurbished rooms and it was beautiful so will definitely return to see where this hotels new owner takes this hotel with their plans, as it was already a lovely place.

WE WERE MADE WELCOME RIGHT FROM THE START,LETTING US BOOK IN EARLY(08.00 AM)RESERVING US A PARKING PLACE IN THE FRONT OF THE HOTEL.WE WERE GIVEN HELP TO UNLOAD AND TAKE OUR LUGGAGE TO THE ROOM.OUR ROOM WAS HUGE AND VERY WELL KEPT,ALL AMMENITIES WERE ON HAND, THE ON SUITE BATHROOOM WAS ALSO VERY BIG AND BEING DISABLED THIS MADE IT MUCH EASIER FOR US BOTH IN THE BATHROOM AND THE ROOM ITSELF,HELP WAS ALWAYS AT HAND WHEN WE CAME IN OR GOING OUT MAKING SURE THEY HELPED US WITH THE COUPLE OF STAIRS WE HAD TO GO UP OR DOWN,IT WAS MANAGABLE OUR SELVES BUT THEY HELPED WITH ANY SHOPPING WE HAD DONE.NOTHING WAS NO TROUBLE FOR ANY OF THE MEMBERS OF STAFF,BUT WE MUST NAME ELAINE AND FREYA,WHO WERE ALWAYS ON HAND TO HELP US,EVERYONE WAS SO HELPFUL,THE ROOMS WERE CLEAN AND TIDY AND SERVICED EVERY DAY IF YOU SO WISHED,TO SHOW HOW PLEASED WE WERE,WE HAVE NOW BOOKED FOR NEXT YEAR,I THINK THAT SAYS HOW PLEASED WE WERE WITH THE HOTEL AND STAFF.THE HOTEL IS WELL POSITIONED NEAR TO THE SEA FRONT .

The hotel had just been open a few days after being closed for 8 months. The building is shabby & our room was worse. There were stains on the carpet & upholstery. The bathroom was nice as it looked as if it had been upgraded recently. There was no ac & we could only open the window a few inches. We had a very small fan, inadequate. The sun shone on our window most of the day. It was hot!

Grand Hotel

Due to refurbishment we were sent to another Richardson hotel called the Grand. We had problems and had to move rooms twice Staff at Grand were fantastic helpful and polite. Would definitely recommend the Grand.
