POSITIVE : the location was good because we had a car, including the secure parking garage. The hotel email telling us the address of the car park wait area was good to receive, BUT to not mention the massive amount of road works getting to it was a major problem. The road works was due to Kermis which I’m sure every citizen knows about. The hotel should have told us to make sure our GPS was able to pick up road works, or at least told us to avoid inner city streets. Instead of 10 minutes till arrival when we hit the road works, it was an hour and lots more kilometres and frustration! Each detour brought us to another one and another one etc etc! The room was small but okay for 1 night. The shower pressure was pathetic, which I guess was okay for the cleaner because with the lack of shower curtain, water would have been all over the floor. Not good! Bed was comfy enough, but slightly hard. Good to have large windows to see outside (high rise building view). Hotel itself is in need of an update for the price they charge for both the tiny room and high car park cost.

Not the best night’s stay

The room was stuffy and there was no air conditioning. The shower was very disappointing - the water that came out of the shower-head more like a dribble! The pillows were lumpy and not very comfortable. Sadly we didn’t spend a very good night at the Tulip Inn.

Check in was simple and everything clearly explained. Clean rooms and comfortable beds. Every member of staff was friendly, cheerful and helpful. If we ever come to Leiden again, this is where we will stay.

Really good room, convenient, parking at 19.95 eur per day. The price reflects it, there is no air con, which is ok for about 340 days per year. That said I would stay there again.

The Tulip Inn is a very well appointed property with a range of facilities. The staff are welcoming and most amenable. The restaurant provides a fine range of cuisine. This property is conveniently placed for all the amenities of Leiden. It is situated directly opposite the bus and rail stations providing links to the local area as well as all other areas of the Netherlands and beyond. Thoroughly recommended.

Spacious room with 4 twin beds. Bike shed with lock. Luggage room. Cons: shower has only half glass door/wall. I guess this is common in many European hotels. Water falls outside. No AC in room. Front desk was kind enough to lend us a table fan.

We had a pleasant stay at the Golden Tulip. Leiden is beautiful. The hotel was quite pricey and a short 10 min walk from the main restaurant area. The hotel bar was pretty expensive we had two beers for €21 which is ridiculous!! The room was really spacious with lots of natural light and a huge bathroom. The room was really warm and no fans were provided. Luckily we brought our own as travelling with a car. Overall, a great stay but would probably find a cheaper alternative next time.

This was a nice place but during the heat wave it became apparant that some rooms do not have air conditioning and became very hot. Just worth checking before you plan.
