Stunning. Really special place where we felt very well looked after. The staff were very attentive, and very helpful organising excursions. The particular highlight was canoeing along the mangrove forests. The houses themselves are incredibly special, and a wonderful place to relax

Beautiful hotel on an amazing little island just off of Ishigaki. The hotel and staff are all amazing. The rooms are spacious and traditional in feel. The tasting menu was incredible.

Excellent stay at Hoshinoya Taketomi Island - great staff, who were very attentive. Pool is quiet and nice; can get drinks in the hotel bar as well. Food was also great.

The resort is located in an astonishing island, with plenty of natural wonders to discover. The hotel has a unique style, and it offers all the comforts and amenities to have a wonderful time. In particular we loved the food, and the quality of the service. Definitely recommended.

Unpleasant stay. 3 stars at best.

Our stay at Hoshinoya fell short of expectations. Uncomfortable beds, stuffy rooms, and inadequate lighting marred the experience. Mediocre food and unresponsive massage therapy added to the disappointment. The hotel grounds were confusingly laid out, and the lack of beach loungers and presence of washed-up plastic bottles detracted from the beach experience. The insistence on proceeding with a kayaking tour during torrential rain, coupled with unjust charges upon checkout, further soured the stay. Communication issues with staff exacerbated the situation. Overall. Hoshinoya failed to deliver on its promise of 5-star luxury and we would in no way return. We felt ripped off and would rate this at a 3 star best in comparison to other 5 star resorts.

The only reason I went to visit Ishigaki island. Although my flight was cancelled due to typhoon, the staffs as well as the customer service of Expedia did everything they could to ensure I don’t miss a bit. I feel greatly valued and I do appreciate it very much!
