Als, Denmark's 7th largest island, can be found in the southern Little Belt belt between Jutland and Funen. On this pretty, green island with its impressive natural scenes, extensive forests and some of Denmark's best swimming beaches, this charming vacation home with a lovely garden is located in the popular vacation home area of Skovmose, just 500 m from the water. The beach is excellent - a wide, child-friendly sandy beach with a bathing jetty and shopping facilities in the immediate vicinity. If you want to combine shopping with good food and cultural experiences, it is recommended to drive the 20 km to Sønderborg. Here you can also see the neat 800 year old Sønderborg Castle, which today tells in an interesting museum the South Jutland history of war and peace, of the changes between Danish and German sovereignty and of the cultural influences. In general, Als bears witness to a cultural-historical heritage in which the war between Denmark and Prussia in June 1864 was decisive. Everywhere graves and memorials remind of that time and in the History Center Dybbøl Banke the war events are effectively illustrated. Dybbøl Mill from 1745 is today a national symbol. In Augustenborg about 15 km from the vacation home, there are interesting exhibitions at the castle and castle concerts are often held in the summer. Another cultural attraction is the traditional South Jutland ring riding tournaments, which become real folk festivals. A day trip could take them to the nature pearl Ærø, to which ferries run several times a day from the picturesque fishing port of Mommark. For the active vacationer Als has two beautiful golf courses, numerous fishing waters as well as fishing trips with a cutter from Mommark, nature-beautiful paths for hiking on foot or by bike, for example through one of the longest forests in Denmark, the Nørreskov to offer.
