Overrated, overpriced and lacking in basic customer service is the only way to describe GPH. From check in to check out there were a number of disappointing occurrences. Firstly we got told we had a choice of a king bed or two twin beds, however upon check in got taken to two rooms that had one bed and told nothing was available until the next morning. After expressing my disappointment and the fact that we had taken nearly an hour to check in, miraculously a room with two twin beds was available at midnight. We were hungry and asked for some food from room service(club sandwiches) it took an hour before it arrived at 1am by this stage we just needed to sleep. Breakfast finished at 10.30am and naturally we were there at 10am due to the late night prior. We were told that we could sit outside as staff were setting up for lunch!!!! really?? as soon as we started breakfast. The fruits got cleared away at 10.06am and at 10.15am got told there was no more orders for eggs or anything else. Approximately 10.36am a staff member came up to us and said we have finished breakfast thank you. Our keys to the room was not working and twice we had to return to reception to reactivate. The lady from housekeeping Sereima was the only staff member who was genuinely friendly and smiling. After speaking with Maria in concierge, the management did to try to compensate for the bad experience and it was appreciated. Stayed in the Kingsford-Smith Suite. Pure luxury. Great to see the Hotel restored to its former glory. Delicious meals. Great charm.
