While we had some challenges with our GPS finding the location, the surprise on arrival was magical. The property has a unique view over the lake, and the garden is a real park with beautiful trees and flowering shrubs. There is plenty of space inside and outside to relax with a cup of coffee, a glass of local wine, and delicious local cheeses. The kitchen has all the necessary amenities, and unlike many VRBOs we have stayed at, everything works. The vacuum cleaner bag is not full, the knives are sharp, the appliances are high-quality, and the bathroom is like a hotel bathroom. Gabriella, the owner, is a delightful lady who was available anytime by text when necessary. The town of Stresa has great restaurants and shops where local products are made locally. Shopping for food is great with two shopping centres and a greengrocer in town.However, having a train station in town was great for going to Milan and the airport, and for visiting the surrounding area.

My friend and I enjoyed a wonderful week in Stresa and at this villa (despite some unseasonably nasty weather). The view from the terrace is magical and when you are there, you will hardly know that you have any neighbours even though the hostess lives just across the garden. The villa is clean, well-stocked and spacious and, in fact, almost too big for the two of us. We arrived early but Gabriella was there to greet us and allowed us to store our luggage while we had lunch in the village on the lake.We were a bit concerned about the path down to the village but it was not a problem even though we are two some-what fit 72 year old women and the path is steep in places. Even though there was a lot of rain, the path dried out quickly and was not really slippery. Part of the path is stony and you have to watch your footing where the path crosses over a little creek. The village can be accessed using paved roads but it takes a bit longer and is not as pleasant as the walk through the woods. We enjoyed our stay on Lake Maggiore and Gabriella was a gem, providing us with a bottle of wine and a box of marghertines (the excellent local cookies) on arrival. The wifi was quite good for our needs and there was lots of hot water.

Like home away from home but more beautiful!

We hated to leave. The villa was more beautiful and spacious than the pictures led us to believe, and we felt so welcomed by Gabriella. It was if we were staying with family or friends, not as strangers. We struggled with getting there (our fault, due to a typo in the GPS) but Gabriella was so kind and patient with us. When we finally made it she was waving to us from the gate, what a welcome sight. She gave us a tour, showed us everything, and had some little welcome gifts for us as well! Amazing. The villa itself has breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore. Our only regret is that we were there during an extreme heatwave, so we couldn't enjoy the terrace as much as we would have liked because it was too hot outside. The villa was extremely well equipped, better than any other rental I've been in. We only cooked in a couple times, but could easily have done so all week if we'd wished. We drove in and out of Stresa because my 85-year old dad has mobility issues, so we couldn't take the walking path. But we loved Stresa, and enjoyed tooling around to other local areas like Arona, Lake Orta, and more. We would gladly return here, and recommend it highly to anyone seeking a peaceful, beautiful, and comfortable place to stay on Lake Maggiore. Thank you, Gabriella, for everything!!!!!

This was such a lovely place with breathtaking panoramic views. It has a serenity that is welcoming after a day of touring. It is a perfect location and excellent for taking day trips to Lake Orta, Switzerland, Lake Como, etc. Everything you need is available and the hostess, Gabriella, is delightful. It was one of our most favorite rentals on a long trip.

Lovely apartment

Our stay in this Stresa apartment was delightful. Gabriella greeted us personally, and was very kind and helpful. We enjoyed the quiet, relatively remote location (uphill away from the city center), and also access to a beautiful trail to the town that kept us from having to walk on the narrow, curvy roads. We couldn't get enough of the view from the sitting room and wraparound deck. Of the three rentals we had on our trip, this was our favorite.

The best view in the world

A fantastic welcome from Gabriella to her gorgeous and well appointed villa. The view from the terrace over Lake Maggiore was stunning. It is well worth getting up to witness the sun rise over the mountains on the opposite side of the lake. The villa was super comfortable, clean, quiet and had everything we needed. Stresa is a 20 minute walk down a sometimes rough, unmade path. The walk back climbs 100m, perfect for walking off those pasta calories. Just be aware that the Vrbo map shows the villa much closer to town than it actually is. We loved stopping here and will definitely stay again if we return to Stresa.

Lovely and well equipped

Great place to stay, large living area and bedrooms, and very well equipped kitchen. Gabriella was amazing! A little quiet in stresa but that can’t be helped, it was winter. Nice relaxing stay to end our hectic holiday in Europe.

Perfect!

Perfect house. Comfortable and clean. The walk to town was beautiful and rustic. We were glad we brought a backpack carrier for our 4 year old though as it was quite a steep walk. The neighbors were lovely and the neighborhood was calm and quiet. The hosts were gracious and helpful. Overall a fantastic stay for our family of 4.

Spectacular View of Lago Maggiore

The view from this property is just spectacular. It has a comfortable and large balcony/deck. The bright living room is surrounded by windows which provides for breath taking views. The property itself is in a great neighbourhood, well placed for access to Stresa and surrounding area. There is a nice trail if you want to walk into town and it takes about 20 minutes.

This home was perfect for us. The pictures are accurate- the view is spectacular! The space was lovely and up to date, and the neighborhood is convenient and quiet. Gabriella was an attentive and responsive host, who went out of her way to help us with the local bureaucracy in the paperwork for our dog’s return to the US.

Perfect Stresa

Gabriella is a wonderful host. She greeted us with a smile and wine and has been totally responsive to all our needs. The booking is exactly as shown in the pictures, if not better. Always breathtaking. It’s a short hike to town, and a short ride to marvelous hiking and swimming opportunities. We are taking advantage of the music - the Stresa festival and other events around. We may never leave!

Breathtaking View

We loved this house. Not only is the view of the lake from the balcony breathtaking but there are large picture windows on three sides of the living room, as well as in the dining room. Our host was gracious and helpful. We will definitely stay there again.

Great host, Great property, Great location

The property is exceptional and the owner is very hospitable. In addition to a nice bottle of red wine and some local speciality bicuits, Gabriella was also very helpful with suggestions of where to shop and sights to see. The location is unbeatable and the property overlooks Lake Maggiore and in the distance one can see the snow capped Swiss Alps. It is a very short drive to the centre of Stresa and the area is very peaceful. The rooms are well proportioned and everything was in order. We look forward to visiting again.

View worthy of a king/queen

Wow! Gabriella’s terrace has an awesome view of Lage Maggiore - almost 180 degrees! And views from every room. Nicely appointed apartment (fully outfitted galley kitchen, comfortable shared spaces, tables to sit both inside/outside - depending on the weather - to enjoy a drink or a meal w your view), easy parking. Gabriella was very helpful with things to do in/near Stresa. Besides the visits to Palacio Borromeo and the town, she printed out information for a local yearly food festival on Isola Pescheria that was fabulous! Thank you!! We also visited Orta San Giulio and had a tranquil afternoon. She also directed us to a wooded footpath from the rental to town so that we didn’t have to drive. Thanks so much for being an awesome host, Gabriella!!

Excellent!

Gabriella was too perfect! We were quite lost (new gps app) and she talked us through it with ease and grace. Cookies and wine were waiting for us which was perfect after a 9 he drive. Fully, fully equipped kitchen. The views were stunning, the place was larger than we thought. The hills are steep, roads narrow. We ended up using a taxi to (I have mobility issues) town which was perfect and “cheap.” We loved every minute of our stay.

Beautiful View

This property has a commanding view of the lake. The property is located in a quiet residential neighborhood high on a hill. It is a 15 to 20 minute walk into town on an old Trail. If you are fit and active it is a great walk into town. Every morning we would walk into town and have a coffee, relax and than walk back for lunch, There are 2 ways to reach town by car. The upper road thru town or the lake road. The lake road has many turns but less traffic. The house is well equipped. A nice quiet place to relax on the lake.

The perfect place to stay on the beautiful lake

This is perfect place to stay on the beautiful lake!!! My husband and I cannot say enough good things about this GORGEOUS apartment. Gabriela greeted us with a warm smile and she was an incredible hostess. We did not need one thing due to her hospitality. The views of the lake are breathtaking and made our trip to Lake Maggiore even more magical. We would recommend this apartment for any couples looking for a romantic getaway

A very well equipped villa with amazing views. Everywhere was very clean, with plenty of room, inside and outside. Lovely location with amazing views of the lake and mountains. A short walk down to the town through the woods with all the trees providing plenty of shade, especially in the heat of the day!

The only negative comment I can make is the location. On one hand the views are stunning but it is not very convenient to go back and forth to town. The pathway is quite rugged in parts so you have to be very careful, and it is quite a steep hill so a taxi was required to take us back up the hill. So it all depends on the individual. We loved the property but location was a bit problematic. for us.
