The house smells of septic tank
We stayed there at 2024 4th of July weekend, and it was one of worst places we have stayed so far. The house is ok but it smells of septic tank in the hallway and the in bedroom. Please please stay away from this property. We were not even issued any refund for this. The owner refused to pick up phone from vrbo multiple times, and eventually said that they wont refund any money for this. Please stay away!!!

Incredible adventure
We cannot say enough good things about this quaint and quiet property, location and home! Our family had a phenomenal time catching crabs in the bay, having s’mores at the fire pit and adventuring easily to Milbridge for fishing as well as Acadia and Bar Harbor. Would highly recommend this property for all, especially if you enjoy the outdoors and are traveling with a pup! The host was so easy to work with and responded immediately with any questions or concerns. A rare find in a picturesque serene location!

We loved our first visit to Maine. Abby was very responsive, she sent a very helpful pretrip fact sheet. The house is fully stocked, just like home. The location is definitely off the beaten path, peaceful and serene. Great home base for seeing the Maine coastline.

lovely house
Great house- nice attention to detail, great deck, even has sharp knives- which is a rare thing in a rental. Relaxing property, definitely far from everything, which after a couple of days in bar harbor is really nice. Schoodic is absolutely worth the visit. We tried to go to Maclellan park but there’s only 3 parking spots. Petit Manan does not go down to the point- park at the Hollingsworth trail head. Seems like all the restaurants close at 7 - so plan to be there at 6. We enjoyed the 44 North restaurant in Milbridge. Me & Ben blueberry ice cream is unparalleled. The Steuben general store has beer and chips and packaged/canned stuff- no meat or fresh fruit or veg - so pack up on your groceries before you get to the house. We liked the Acadia Provisions store in Ellsworth for meat and deli stuff.
Overall a great visit.

Great family vacation
We had a wonderful time and vacation here. The house was beautiful, very clean and comfortable. The location is remote and very quiet. It is a bit of a long drive to Acadia and Bar harbor, over an hour each way, but otherwise no complaints. The little towns nearby are very cute and the ferry from Winter Harbor to Bar harbor was great. The nearby puffin and seal tour is a must see. We loved our stay!

Family Vacation
We came up for a week with our family of five (three girls; 6,7,10) and my in-laws. The house is perfect. We were actually asking abbi questions regarding their decor and where to purchase it, we loved it that much. It’s a very quiet neighborhood, on a dirt road. My girls and dogs loved exploring. The swimming area is a bit tricky only because we had smaller kids, with stronger swimmers who you don’t have to worry about you’d be fine. My only complaint was The Pickled Wrinkle was closed due to Covid, but that gives us something to look forward to next time!

Fantastic house - will surely stay again
This was our Plan B vacation when our original "bucket list" trip for three weeks in Russia and Scandinavia was canceled due to COVID. We could not have enjoyed the property more. Meticulously clean, comfortable and well stocked, the house is beautiful. Especially appreciated the tasteful decor (no "country kitsch"!) and smart TV and cook's kitchen stocked with many essentials (way more than we are used to finding in VRBOs). The property is lovely and secluded (the only nightlife is the animals and the amazing stars!), but do note that it's a steep grade down to the water - my husband had just had knee surgery and he could not go there. Elderly folks may have trouble. Really wonderful place and the host was very responsive and easy to deal with. We'll definitely enjoy this property again.

Maine Delight
The newly built house is nicely located; away from the crowded Acadia with great and beautiful hikes nearby. We loved the house which is well equipped and ideal for family with dogs. We were blessed with great weather and therefor did not get to reading the excellent information of the area and recent books. One can see the Milky Way on a moonless night. Information on shopping and dining was very usefully.

Ollie's Folly
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Ollie's Follie. The house was very clean and well stocked with all necessities! We had several family dinners at the large dining table and enjoyed sitting out on the deck.
We were disappointed in the lack of water view and access to the water! The hill to the water is very steep and there is no path! We had plans on kayaking and paddle boarding but the climb made this very challenging. I really would suggest making a path to the water and adding a dock for future renters to enjoy the water.
Also, we found ourselves in a heat wave during our stay. There is no ac and we had only two floor fans to deal with the heat. Luckily the heat wave cleared after two days.

Beautiful, Maine vacation
This house is comfortable, impeccably clean and lovely decorated. It’s off the beaten path—an hour from Acadia and Bar Harbor. The access to the waterfront is steep, so careful with kids, but lovely area and great place to enjoy Maine and all its natural beauty! We would love to come back!

We loved our stay! The house was well stocked with everything. Very clean!! We couldn’t be happier with our stay! We loved having a fire every night. Making s’mores and hot dogs! Lots of memories were made
My Only suggestion would be to get some plastic cups for outside by the camp fire.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!!!

Ollie’s Folly to be everything as advertised and more !
We found Ollie’s Folly to be everything as advertised and more ! This location offered an excellent retreat with attractions for day trips in every direction. Day trips included: North to Quoody Head Light House (be sure to bring your passport – Canada and the McClellan Park is just a few more miles). South to Arcadia Park and Bar Harbor and after the crowded streets of the latter you will enjoy the privacy of Ollie’s Folly even more. The under exploration of Schoodic Mountain is a great day three trip with local venues to dine and enjoy a beverage on the sea side. Obtaining local lobster is way too easy and great for a wonderful dinner at this VRBO – as Ollie’s Folly does indeed have everything one needs in the way of a very well supplied kitchen and appliances that include a lobster pot, specialized plates and utensils for such a feast. So, build a fire, bring a bottle of wine and enjoy this brand-new setting in the woods of this Downeast part of Maine.
Hosts; Abby and Will were great, sharing their insight and response to questions regarding the area and their property. Their attention to the quality of this home was evident to us and the other couple we traveled with. The cleanliness and comfort of their home with all the latest amenities that included efficient WiFi access enabled us to keep up with things back home and never out of touch. Their response to extra needs such as returning a couple of things left behind and returned to us was greatly appreciated. I would definitely recommend Ollie’s Folly and hosts to anyone looking for a lot of space and wonderful new property that is hassle free. Sit back and enjoy – we certainly did. Thanks……….

Secluded forest setting
The house is new and VERY clean, exactly as pictured. It also seems well-insulated; we didn’t feel outside temperature changes at all. Paper products, hand soaps, and detergents were all provided, which was a great convenience. Furniture and beds were very comfortable, and the tankless water heater meant we never ran out of hot water. We had to be cautious of sudden changes in temperature while showering. There is a dresser/chest of drawers only in the master bedroom, so the other couple were unable to unpack suitcases for our 8-night stay. A good supply of dishes meant we didn’t have to wash after every meal. There is neither a microwave nor a teakettle, so heating water for tea and hot chocolate had to be done in a pan. Ample parking on a level lot is provided, even though the house is surrounded by trees—we even had deer in the parking area. The “water view”, however, is blocked by those trees unless you hike down the hill to the shore. Only one member of our group of seniors made it down to the shore, and she recommended that the rest of us not attempt it. We were disappointed, because we were hoping to enjoy the view of the water from the deck. No trash cans in the bedrooms, no towel storage or robe hooks in the bathrooms, and no place to hang coats near the entryway, in addition to the other things I’ve mentioned, kept this from being a 5-star rental in our opinion. The cleanliness, comfort, and quiet certainly earned it a high ranking.
