The communication process was basically non-existent. My first confirmation notice said I had to download an app, Virdee, to receive checkin information. I did and my phone number was not in the system. I called the number that was for the local property but that number did not work. I called the corporate number and the guy told me they were updating their system and not using Virdee anymore. This was literally the next day! I then receive another email reminding me to put the app on my phone in order to check in. Emails to the company were either not answered or not answered in a timely manner. At 3:10p.m. I received a message saying my room was almost ready and that I would receive checkin instructions at 3pm. We arrived at the hotel with no checkin info and there was a sign on the door with 4 different numbers to text, so I did. I heard nothing back so I called one of the numbers. A nice girl told me where the lockers were to enter a code to receive our keys. The locker was unlocked already! The room was not as cute as pictured and described. I think the owners said they tried to keep as much mid-century details as possible. Hardly. The bathroom (while clean & newish) had very modern tile & backsplash that looked nothing like mid-century. There was an air filter/purifier in the room and when we checked it was absolutely clogged with dust! The drawers all smelled like mildew because the inexpensive furniture (laminate? presswood?) had water damage inside.

Problems for us

The mattriss gave both of us a very bad backache. I called for a roll of toilet paper morning and evening, and two different people answered and assured it would be sent, but no toilet paper arrived. Outside the door, rusty water flowed across the walkway from the air conditioner.

This property is absolutely adorable! The care, attention, and painstaking love put into this property is noticeable in all of the little details and personal touches everywhere. I adored the local coffee in the lobby as well. My husband and I had an amazing stay. My only (little) complaints were the stiffness of the mattress, and the finicky door access at night/early morning. However, the hotel lets you know about the issues with the doors, so it's on me for not requesting a physical key after checking in.

Won’t be back.

I’ve been staying here regularly for over a year on an almost monthly basis. It just gets worse and worse and I won’t be back again. The big issue is there key system. You have to download an app, upload ID. Sometimes the auto key works and sometimes it doesn’t. The link once sent me to a fishing trap that subscribed me. I have had neighbors trying to break down their own doors at 2am to the point where I was going to call the police. Currently waiting in the sun and humidity on a Sunday morning for a maintenance person to show up and let me in. No manager or help on site. I have tried to hang in there with this cute boutique motel but I’m done. Didn’t even get into the worn out towels, bad mattresses and backed up drains. They need to address these issues. Ratings are going down and you are losing regulars.

Better then expected

The room was spotlessly clean—bathroom, bed sheets, and overall space were well maintained. However, the bed was a full size rather than a queen, which made sleeping for two adults a bit cramped and uncomfortable. The mattress and pillows also left much to be desired in terms of comfort. We had difficulty accessing the room using the app and had to call for assistance, which was inconvenient. The shower had very poor water pressure, which impacted the overall experience. On the plus side, the room came equipped with an air purifier and a noise machine, which were thoughtful additions. There’s a swimming pool available, though we didn’t get a chance to use it.

We had a wonderful stay, the only issues we ran into were with other guests. There was an elderly group of about 8-10 staying and they spread themselves out over the entire pool area and were very loud and obnoxious.

Go to heck Virdee.

The hotel is an older establishment rehabbed. It was comfortable and I would stay again except for the lack of a lobby with check in and services. The hotel tells you to register with Virdee which is an app that is going to supply you a combination to a lockbox with your keys inside. The problem is with 5 couples, 3 couldn’t get the app to work. A call was made to some outside person who gave you instructions and took your credit card info over the phone. There is no one on site except a cleaning gal in the early morning if you have an issue. The rooms are comfortable, the pool is clean but the hassle is not worth it for them trying to save a buck or two.

Knew this was not the Ritz but they went overboard with technology check in that was a HUGE pain for all 5 couples checking in. Process was quite challenging and had to call multiple times even though they tried their best not to have human contact. We all got to Motel @ 3 for check in and ALL had issues getting into our rooms. Finally got our digital key on our cell and then given code to get our hard physical keys with a rep on the phone. Physical keys were a joke and never worked. Had to constantly pass phone to wife to access room if we went anywhere or wait for one another. It's not like we are tech challenged as 6 of 10 are engineers and all 10 tech savvy. Don't expect to take a warm/hot shower as water was never warm and forget hot. I realize they are cutting cost by not having a front desk but don't want to experience this lack of service at the price we paid for another motel..... This was an old fashion MOTEL from the 50's at best and not a newer Hotel but was renovated within last 5-10 years. Not somewhere I would want to stay again.
