The Warren
This house is in a great location & made a fantastic home base for us rusticators. We accessed the whole island easily, including bicycling the Acadia carriage roads, hiking Cadillac Mountain, shopping in SW & NE Harbor, walking to Bar Island, sand dollar hunting at Seal Harbor Beach, dining in Bar Harbor and an evening sail on the Margaret Todd. Handy maps & guides helped with planning our activities. Loved gatherings in the well-stocked kitchen which easily supported baking scones, prepping lunches or dinners. The deck was a fun place to hang out & play cards, and we took advantage of the charcoal grill as well. Conveniently provided were sundries like paper towels, spices, trash bags & saran wrap. Bathrooms had plenty of fresh towels, shampoo & soap. A older party member felt there were not enough comfortable places to sit -much of the furniture is older or antique. Beds & bedrooms were comfortable with plenty of linens, but only one bed suitable for an adult couple. Overall, being in the house was like being invited into a home where generations have lived and loved. The art, books, and antiques around the place lend an eclectic and cultured vibe with a touch of mystery - the collectors of these books were curious people and loved nature, history, theology, art & literature. Examining them reveals the names of family members and handwritten notes & poems fall from pages of the books. Nathan was great & very responsive to any questions we had. Would definitely stay again.
