Scarlet Oak is a 1930's country home on the old Kirby Shingle Mill site, nestled under boughs of a heritage Scarlet Oak tree amid towering cedars, firs, and Pacific Dogwoods. The one+ acre property is known as one of Sooke's beautiful old gardens, and has been featured on the Sooke Secret Garden tour.
A variety of wildlife visits Scarlet Oak, and is a favourite stop over for migrating birds. This is a private gated property on a quiet street - on a popular local bike route just steps to the Galloping Goose Trail. The walking/cycling Trail can take you to the Sooke Pot Holes Regional Park over a railway trestle, and stretches as far away as Victoria. Recent guests rode electric bikes from Vancouver to Scarlet Oak, via BC Ferries, Lochside Regional trail, and Galloping Goose.
Your private spacious suite contains a full kitchen and is always supplied with coffee beans, teas and sugar. Soaps, shampoo/conditioner, and laundry soap are also provided.
Garden update: May 14th
The Bluebells a Dogwoods are finishing up. We are having a good show of Rhododendrons, some starting, some in full bloom, and some just finishing. They are beautiful!
