Raffles under renovation

Did not know the hotel was under renovation prior to arrival. This detracted from the experience as many of the facilities were not available. Having said the my room was not unduly affected by renovation noise. Room was Personality room named after Radyard Kipling and was so theamed. While a little tired was clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Spoke to you by name. Very nice. Would stay again. Hope the renovation does cause the hotel to lose its old world charm

Olden times

Pros: Personal service.
Cons: Need a renovation
Location: Only there to see old relatives and not for sightseeing.
Been to Singapore every year so thought must try Raffles Hotel. However the TV is old and there should be another TV set to watch whilst sitting on the couch or eating at the table. Been to current modern ones so preserving the old is good but certain gadgets do need current upgrades.

above all expectations

Pros: everything
Cons: nothing
Location: unfortunately the hotel is surrounded by highrise, but the hotel is designed with lots of areas of privacy, you don't here the traffic .
we had the curry in the Tiffin Room, which was absoulutley delicious,so much food and variety, you must try it if you get the chance, the hotel itself is amazing, shame about all the high rise around the buildings, but to be in a grand hotel and to be treated like royalty makes up for the surroundings, if you get one chance in your life to stay there you must do it, put it on your bucket list, we will be going back again, loved it,loved it, loved it!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: The old world charm of the actual building, location and staff.
Cons: The only suggestion would be to keep the restaurant and bar areas a little warmer, it gets chilli after a while so take a light jacket or shawl.
Location: Just across the road is Raffles shopping mall with great food hall and supermarket. Chijmes, on the other corner, has a large selection of restaurant
Admittedly this hotel is expensive but is worth every cent for a special occasion. From the moment we arrived until we waved goodbye, everything was perfect. The staff were lovely, extremely helpful and professional in every way. They went out of their way to meet our needs and could not be faulted. The old world charm of Raffles is truly timeless and the property is very well maintained. The rooms (comprising of 4 separate areas in our 'Palm Court Suite') were large, beautifully furnished and well equipped. Breakfasts buffet was extensive and all requests for extra items were happily met. To complete any visit to Raffles, indulge in one of their Singapore Slings!

Colonial comfort and style.

Wonderful hotel, wonderful style and ambience. The current upgrade was completed almost 25 years ago and that does show a bit, but doesn't really detract. While the old fashioned TV's add character, flat screens are better.

iconic hotel

Pros: Historic
Location: close to shops, attractions only a short taxi ride away
Preserved for guests to enjoy. Obviously you have to pay a price, but don't expect a modern 5*. hotel. I think it was worth doing for the experience. Attentive welcome with complimentary Singapore Sling on arrival. Traditional style large rooms as expected, but no view or private area to sit out for us in 258 and 259. Guess we went for 'cheapest.' Butler service good, lights fused, but fixed quickly. Complimentary water, replaced readily. Comfortable bed, luxury linen and pillows. Slightly musty, damp smell - need to keep the fan on as well as the air conditioning Breakfast was part of our package - excellent quality, in abundance, good eggs - lingering wasn't easy and top-ups had to be asked for (just a feeling that management were anxious to clear for decks). Took evening dinner twice in the Tiffin Room - buffet Indian cuisine was superb. Pool area- no wow factor, but clean and water was warm; again complimentary water and good changing area with showers and steam room - perfect for late checkout. Spa and gym - looked OK - didn't use. Pool bar - thank you Melvin for your hospitality. Grounds and other facilities all well preserved and accessible to the residents.

Honeymoon at the Raffles

Pros: The history of this property. The knowledge and the pride the staff take in this property. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
Location: Parkview Square lobby bar. Arab Street for fabrics. Lunch at Zam Zam. Little India. Fire Station open day every Saturday. Raffles City shopping.
Wow! Our experience at this property surpassed all expectations. It was the perfect hotel for our honeymoon. The staff take obvious pride in their exceptional level of service and their knowledge of the history of the Raffles Hotel and the surrounding area is outstanding. We enjoyed lunch in the Long Bar with a famous Singapore Sling. The curry buffet in the Tiffin Room was an amazing experience for the taste buds. The breakfasts were also delicious with a wide selection to choose from. We had a butler to care for our every need. The house keeping staff were exceptional at their attention to detail in our room, leaving our room decorated with the word "love" written with Singapore Orchids on our bed and two swans made from the hand towels and washers... so creative and thoughtful. The hotel management sent us a bottle of chilled champagne for us to enjoy on the veranda. We loved everything about this wonderful and iconic hotel.
