4/10 Poor

An airport rebuild some years ago meant that this "airport" hotel is now two stations down the rail line. Delayed flight and diversion to Dresden, not the hotel's fault, meant a 1.30am instead of evening arrival. Instead of a caring welcome for the weary, dishevelled, disoriented traveller, an abrupt direction to lift for first floor, from which emerging into darkness I fumbled round walls and corridors in a vain search for bedrooms. A while after discovering a light switch and thus alerting reception, I was directed back to the lift, forming a barrier between two sections of the hotel, and told to exit on its far side. In my room, past 2.00am I anticipated that as advertised, I would be refreshed by making myself a hot drink. Nowhere was that advertised facility to be found, the only "welcome" a small bottle of cold water. Enquiring the next day, was told that by a policy decision the hotel had recently discontinued the facility. (I will not book a hotel where a hot drink cannot be prepared in the bedroom.)
The room was adequate, the bed very comfortable and the hot water shower excellent, though the floor quickly became slippery, this elderly guest requiring extra care in the absence of a rubber mat or wall grab handle.
