Warm and uncomfortable. This was how my family felt in the room at night. It was winter so after we asked the staff informed that the air conditioners were set to "heater only" mode. We were told to open a tiny window to let the cold outside air in but no cold outside air came in. In the end they provided two standing fans for us. This was our 3rd hotel room during this trip, the previous two were in Japan and they had working cold air conditioners in the rooms even in winter.
Aside from this, we found spots of black mold in the toilet. Our 4:30AM booking for a taxi to the airport caused confusion when we arrived at the level 1 counter with our luggage, as the staff on duty said there was a 4:30AM booking for a taxi but the room number and name is different from what I was telling her so she said the taxi was not for us. Come on, 4:30AM, no other guest in sight, taxi waiting, and we were told the taxi was not for us. Eventually the taxi driver went into the hotel to confirm he was picking up 3 passengers to Incheon. Reluctantly, the hotel staff stopped objecting to us taking the taxi, at 4:45AM. Again, no other guest in sight for the taxi.
Now the better parts. The location of the hotel was very good. walking distance to shopping and food, then to subway stations to get out of Dongdaemun. Very convenient to go the places we went. Will we stay in this hotel again? Probably not but for those who can look past the challengers we had with them, this hotel is well located.
