The Space:

The house is spread across two floors and full of authentic charm. You enter through a practical mudroom — perfect for stowing wet jackets and muddy boots after a day in the Faroese weather — which leads into a bright hallway with a wooden staircase connecting the two floors.

The ground floor hosts the main living areas: a cosy sitting room with dark leather sofas, a retro pendant lamp, and a warm, homely feel; and a spacious dining room with a large table seating eight, pine-clad ceilings, and the home's signature red gingham curtains that run throughout. The kitchen corner is equally full of character, with old cast-iron radiators, leafy garden views, and a sunny window seat perfect for a morning coffee.

Upstairs, the bedrooms offer calm and quiet, with village views from the windows — you'll wake up to Faroese rooftops, green hillsides, and the occasional glimpse of the fjord.

Outside, a small private terrace with seating sits directly by the front door — ideal for a quiet moment between adventures. The house also has private parking on site.

Throughout the home, the original details have been kept intact: wooden panel walls, traditional window frames, vintage lamps, and decades of quiet Faroese character. It feels genuinely old — in the best possible way.



Guest Access:

Guests have full and exclusive access to the entire house, including all living areas across both floors, the kitchen, all bedrooms and bathrooms, the mudroom and the private outdoor terrace. There are no shared spaces — the whole home is yours for the duration of your stay.



The Neighborhood:

Sandavágur is one of the Faroe Islands' most charming and historically rich villages, nestled along the calm shores of Vágar island. The village has a quiet, authentic atmosphere with traditional Faroese turf-roofed houses, a beautiful old church dating back to the 12th century, and stunning views across the fjord to the surrounding mountains.

Despite its peaceful village feel, Sandavágur is remarkably well-connected. Vágar Airport is just a 5-minute drive away, making it one of the most convenient bases on the islands — whether you're arriving late or catching an early flight, you'll never have to rush. The island's main town, Sørvágur, is only 5 minutes in the other direction, offering grocery stores, a gas station, and everyday essentials.

The village sits at the gateway to some of Vágar's most iconic natural attractions. The famous lake Sørvágsvatn (Trælanípan) — known for its dramatic optical illusion above the ocean — is within 15 minutes by car, as are the sea cliffs of Gásadalur and the majestic waterfall Múlafossur. For those wanting to explore the wider archipelago, the capital Tórshavn is just 30 minutes away by car, including a short ferry crossing from Sørvágur to Gamlarætt.



Getting Around:

A rental car is strongly recommended and will give you the freedom to explore everything the Faroe Islands have to offer at your own pace. The road network is excellent, and most major attractions on Vágar are within 15–25 minutes of the property. Vágar Airport, located just 5 minutes away, has car rental desks from major providers directly in the terminal.

The ferry from Sørvágur to Gamlarætt runs frequently throughout the day and is the main link between Vágar and the rest of the archipelago. Buses do operate on the islands, but schedules can be limited, so a car gives you by far the most flexibility — especially for reaching scenic viewpoints and hiking trails.
